I am well aware of how it works, but the point being it works. I just find with PMDG of late it always someone else’s fault. Of course it is so easy to make the Fenix work right, it just renders inside!! There is no two way data flows between the app and the Plane?
The interdependencies are legion and mind boggling! It is amazing that MSFS works at all, really. That PMDG can place a Boeing airliner in the hands of an Xbox owner to enjoy, well that is truly an accomplishment.
2024 is such a mess on my Series X (and yes I have a very fast internet connection with no air gaps, everything is hard wired) and yet my 737s and 77W run great in 2020; I can certainly wait for anything add-on for 24. 2020 never looked better to me than today (and yes the flight model in 2024 is a huge improvement, sadly surrounded by a lot of needless obstacles to free flight).
Guess I’m going to retire my A300-600RF next week for a 777 freighter, no need to wait for 24.
NIce preview stream for the 777F from @BritishAvgk .
Looks like streamer Capt. Canada has a preview stream of his own scheduled to start in about 30 minutes.
EDIT: Looks like Kyle has rescheduled his stream for tomorrow.
Also for what it’s worth, Contrail have set up a route network globe thing so you can see where they have scenery in their store linking into routes the 777F operates to - worth a look:-
(and if you’ve not used it yet - use code AF-79622269
at checkout to get 10% off your entire Contrail order) Every little helps!
The 777F is out for all the freight dogs!
Nah, not at that price, I’ll stick with the passenger variant.
$19 cheaper than the passenger variant, and a free upgrade for 2024? Okay. You do you.
As for me, I’ll be hauling virtual freight for the next few weeks.
I will, this is a forum, I’m allowed to express disapproval at their pricing model. I think they’re overpriced. They don’t do discounts for existing customers, so they’re losing out on revenue, I’m sure there are many that will feel the same way, certainly if you look at the FB groups.
But hey, you wanna spend another $55 on one variant, then that’s ok too.
I’m also not buying this version. I already have the 77W and probably will buy the 772 if no one else develops one. Also waiting for the 747-400. Will definitely buy the 757s/767s/787 from Bluebird and all of the Fenix Airbuses. So no need for a freighter. And I didn’t even mention the 4 year update of FS which in worst case scenario means you can buy each aircraft again every time. However should there be more of a Fenix approach I probably would buy the F. For the couple of times I’d do a freight haul it’s indeed to expensive (as I have bought many PMDG’s over the years).
To be fair PMDG have said the 2024 native versions of the 777 will be free upgrades.
I really don’t mind, when a developer struggles with FS2024, has to charge for an upgrade in order to avoid bankruptcy
However, my time is limited and there are so many choices these days. I have so many flights I want to do with the 77W, by the time I’m bored with that one the 772 and 744 are probably released.
You do realise that 77W and 777F have a huge difference between them. Even if they share same flight deck - Freighter variant is certainly different to 300. It is more comparable to 777-200LR as they share same engine and airframe.
So, you think the 777-200 is going to be cheaper than the 777F as it shares the same airframe and engines? ![]()
No, this is the way PMDG’s pricing works. We saw it with the 737.
Actually no, we didn’t. PMDG released the -700 and -800 at the higher prices because they had the most airframe variants. The -900/900ER release had fewer variants and was correspondingly a lower price. The -600 had the fewest variants (1) and thus the lowest price. It also served as sort of a “teaser” for those who might be on the fence about buying complex airliners, yet still offered a fully-featured and deeply-simulated aircraf at a very attractice price point, such that those uncertain buyers wouldn’t have to spend much to see if it was their thing.
Conversely, the 77W and 77F are one airframe each. However, like the 737 line before it, each release is its own product, not relying on owning any other or requiring another prior purchase to be installed.
It has literally been this way for 2-1/2 years. The lengths people go to remain offended by it bogles the mind.
It doesn’t offend me, I just think they’re overpriced, nothing you say will change my mind on that.
Yeah, great, the 737s came with variants that I’ll never use, I bought them because I wanted the passenger variants - the single variant 777-300 was even more expensive than 4 variants of the 737-800.
No doubt the 777-200 will cost somewhere between the $55 for the 777F and the $77.30 for the B773. They’ll charge as much as they think people will pay, which is business, but I can vote with my wallet.
But, like I said if you’re happy paying that, then fine.
I personally think they should have done 777-200LR and 777F as a combined pack since they are identical to one another. But knowing PMDG and their pricing model - There is no way 777-200LR is even going to be cheaper considering 777-200LR will be 2024 only product.
I am staying away too - Don’t fancy paying again twice.
