PMDG Douglas DC-6

Only $55. That’s going to disappoint the “$100 isn’t enough” and “i hope they price it high, it’ll keep the riff raff out” elitist crowd.

Thanks to PMDG for keeping it very reasonable and allowing up plebs to join the party.

$54.99 holy ■■■■!! I did not expect PMDG to surprise us all with that price. I thought we would end up paying $90. This is incredible!

They have their reasons. One I can see is that the updates are completely under their control instead of coordinating with MS and their lagging update schedule on the Marketplace. With the amount of issues with aircraft updates there, this doesn’t surprise me.

no liveries??

It would be foolish to predict PMDGs business decisions, but I assume they had noticed the success of JF and Aerosoft and they knew they would have to sell as many units.

Not to mention the many more sales they get at 55$ is gonna be a LOT of income.

In any case a LOT of people should buy this in the next weeks and months. Everyone who is willing to spend 40$ for a Piper Arrow can afford 55$ for a much bigger and more complex.

1-0 for PMDG as far as I am concerned.

Liveries are installed through PMDG Operations Center.

You have to go to the location of Ops Center and run the separate updater. That will update your Op Center to the newest version.

ohhh baby installing now

Ops… I have stopped purchasing things from outside the built in market for a couple of reasons:

  • I want to be able to quickly reinstall all stuff from one single place
  • If I ever by an Xbox I will have all purchases directly available (if they will support Xbox)
  • I don’t want to fiddle with several different installation processes
  • I want the community folder to be used for freeware only (but maybe their installer puts it somewhere else?)

I was really thinking of getting this one but if it won’t be available in the built in market place I think I will just skip it.

I agree, but I’ll make an exception for PMDG. I have all their planes and they are all VERY high quality. I just bought this one so I can’t say anything for sure yet, but early indications are that it matches the PMDG standard. It’s worth it.

Fantastic price! I was not expecting that. Definitely sending a signal that they are not only going for the hardcore simmers (we’ll leave that for the 737). Even $55 is beyond the budget of some people but, then again, the sim, the other add-ons, and especially the hardware is beyond the budget of some people. For the established market and from what I’ve seen of this plane, $55 is a very very fair price. Now only the hardcore haters will complain.

By the way, I went to the website, added it to my cart, created an account at 1208 local time, completed the purchase using paypal almost instantly, and had my e-mail with my download link and license code by 1212 local time. I then clicked the download link, was taken to their website, clicked the button to request a verification code, received that instantly, downloaded the file very quickly (faster than MS downloads for sure), and have it all installed and in my hangar (not counting the liveries, which I’m looking and and downloading right now) within 10 minutes of starting the purchase. All smooth and professional. No surprise there, I guess.
