PMS50 GNS530 mod

The terrain view is really handy when navigating mountainnous regions.

It won’t delete the plan if you direct to a fix in an approach you have loaded. I haven’t seen it recently, but sometimes activating an approach would cause you to backtrack. The last few times I used this it did what it was supposed to, though.

Isn’t this a feature of the real GNS530? I seem to recall that is what it does.

Useful for avoiding flying up a dead end valley with no exit

I had a weird one earlier. I was South of SAZS, plotted a direct to, then loaded the procedure for the ILS 29 approach. I activated the approach, then activated the leg to EKIVO, which got rid of that curved course, and gave me a direct line. As soon as I got to EKIVO, the plan changed, and the plan ended up looking like this:

And the curve re-appeared. Actually, now that I look at it, the curved course to EKIVO did not re-appear, it’s merely showing the teardrop route.

The strange thing was I could then not choose any of the existing legs. As I was flying towards PUKIB, I deleted the plan entirely, direct to SAZS again, activate the ILS 29 approach again, and now I was able to select the leg I was currently on, and it worked this time:

I had this prblem even with CRJ own avionics. Maybe it’s something with MSFS kernel. Or Bariloche. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi Guys,

I have been reading thru some of the 2000 replies on the 530; I am ready to try it out on the JF Arrow. Could one of you point me to where i can get the latest mod release? I note there have been several. Many thanks!

1st Post in this Topic ALWAYS points to the Developer’s page containing the ā€œLatest Releaseā€

Got it, thanks!!

thanks loving the mod so far.

finally managed to generate some AI traffic to test the TCAS properly - found that I was getting all traffic marked with a white plane (matched what I could see visually) - however when I selected ā€œtcasā€ from the menu most of these planes disappear and it reverts to the diamond methodology (as per manual) - only displaying a diamond when there is an apparent conflict - presume this is exactly how its meant to function?
also is there meant to be any audio able warning when there is a conflict (had a few conflicts but could not hear anything and my volume dial did not seem to help)

That’s the way it works. TCAS displays only aircrafts that meet potential collosion criterias.
No audio alerts implemented here.

Which aircraft in MSFS is this mod applicable to?

There are a few aircraft that use these. The steam gauge C172 is the best known example. the Carenado Mooney is another. Also the JF Piper Arrow has a gn530/430 option. A few others.

It would be great if there was a definitive list of which aircraft used what GPS devices…

ie: expand on

G1000
1. Grand Caravan
2. G58 Baron
3. G36 Bonanza
4. C172 AS1000
5. DA40 NG
6. DA62
7. Beech King Air
8. Cessna Longitude
9. Cirrus SR22
10. TBM 930
The Generic Single, Multi, Private Jet, and Turbo aircraft use it as well.
The Icon and XCub also use code from the G1000, for the backup attitude.

G3000
1. Cessna Longitude
2. TBM930
Generic Turbo Single engine, too

G3X
1. E330
2. Beech KingAir 350
3. Pipistrel
4. VL3
5. XCub

Has anyone had a chance to see if this mod is fine after the update?

Just loading it up now … At least it is one of the MODs ā€œNOTā€ actually crashing the sim…

Update: Seems fine – as far as I can tell, all functions are working the same as before the update.
(Still cannot seem to be able to ADD a WP to a FP , so maybe no progress in that area from Asobo – or maybe if they have fixed it, the MOD may need updating ? )

What’s your procedure? Can’t test it now but I’m sure I used the feature quite often and never had an issue with it.

Please educate me — seriously, I have never been able to add a WP, anywhere in the FP, through the GNS530.

You can add it as en enroute Waypoint only. Select the waypoint after insertion in flight plan, turn the knob to select the waypoint and accept.
Sometimes the Sim do not insert it especially if this is the last enroute waypoint before a loaded approach (still a sim’s bug here).

Yeah, in FPL place the marker on a waypoint, then turn the right inner knob which will bring up the entry page for the next waypoint that will be inserted after the previously highlighted waypoint.

It’s the same as with G1000.
