I really wish there was detailed, OFFICIAL documentation that fully explained what the WT GPS & Navigation system were designed to be, how they will interface to the current, or a new MSFS ATC system, and how they will either replace, or be an alternative to the original Asobo systems.
Especially For anyone new to MSFS 2020 , without having to read and wade through the past two year’s 1000’s of Forum and Discord posts.
Even for those who have used MSFS since release, its a most confusing thing.
Is there a Master Plan, or is it being made up and changed almost on a daily basis, in a stumbling “try it and see what works” development cycle. ?
Yep, couldn’t agree more.
Confusing indeed particularly so if you like to have WT modes in a number of different payware aircraft. Most developers are struggling to keep up with the never ending changes.
The product evolves especially with the introduction of the new WT technology that should preogressively replace the stock Asobo avionics.
This gives more feature but requires some work from third parties to adapt their product.
I recognize that this stuff brings confusion but this should be temporary.
Actually, yes it has been incorporated into the base game for default aircraft.
There are two WT530’s, the gray icon one (for default aircraft and the now default 530/430 code) and the GPS icon “Marketplace WT530” for third parties to use in their aircraft (I don’t know the details here, but it essentially redirects planes to use the default 530/430). Unfortunately, the “Marketplace WT530” still interferes with the action of some products that haven’t been upgraded to use it, like the SWS RV-10, Milviz 310 and PC-6, and others, typically planes that use the G3X or 530 or 430. Many 3rd party planes have been upgraded, but not all. The problems typically show up as issues with the Autopilot following (IOW, ignoring) a flight plan.
It seems the best course of action at the moment is to remove the “Marketplace WT530” from the Content Manager and use the PMS530 in its stead until developers say it’s no longer a problem.
At this time, I think the PMS530 and WT530 will always conflict with each other so you have to have either one or the other installed. As is said above, WT is supposedly working on a way to specify which GNS to use, they’re calling it “Hot swapping”, but, until/if this is ever finished, they will conflict with each other, so you can only install one or the other. Having both installed will also cause problems.
This documentation is being written. I’m surprised you haven’t seen @Bishop398’s comments on this.
The WT is integrated already in the stock planes and the WT mod in the marketplace is only needed for third party planes, correct?
Just want to take a minute to tell you how much I appreciate you. Your 530/430 has been a mainstay here. I haven’t flown much in the last few months because of CTDs (unrelated to your mod) but your 530/430 has been with me since the beginning and made flying a whole lot better. I’m kind of sad to see it being retired and wish MS would have choose to bring you into the fold just as they did with WT. You have my deepest gratitude.
Thank you very much for this message.
Really appreciated.
WT made a great job with their GNS530 and I’m sure you will get pleasure to use it too.
You can also test/use our GTN750 in a compatible aircraft or in any aircraft with the toolbar panel version. It synchronizes with the Asobo or WT units in the cockpit.
I mostly fly the EMB-110 with the 530/430 combo and use the Class Echo to control it. I’m trying a flight without the PMS 530 and using the WT stock versions now. It has screwed my AP up for some reason and has ALT sticking on 99000.
I just entered an AVWX token in the Setup-Meta window and tried “Test Metar” with the result “No data”.
There is some mentioning of the problem but couldn’t relate anything to what I’m supposed to do.
I am on XBox Series X flying the Bandeirante at the moment.
Any suggestions? Thanks
We can’t provide support on this forum so you should ask on our discord.
However, your issue is a typo error on your side.
We can suggest you to copy paste the token in google fonts and select the “Roboto mono” font. This should help you to distinguish the characters.
Thanks a lot. As I am on XBox there is no “copy/paste” and I have to enter the whole string manually: a bit difficult as the string is quite long. I’ll try the suggested font on my laptop to at least not picking up any wrong characters. I’ll get a new token and try again.
