All things are relative. It’s double the price of the RXP 650/750 (and at the risk of sounding like I’m speaking negatively about the product itself, which is not at all my intention, the RXP is based on the GTN trainer - it’s an exact replica of how the real-world 650/750 works - which is why a lot of real-world pilots, myself included, were willing to pony up $50 for it). It’s more expensive than the sim.
True. But on the plus side, it will always have up to date navdata, and active support as opposed to an update every 6 months or so.
Doing the maths if you only ever planned to use it for three years then stop, you won’t lose out. If you continue to use it beyond that third year, and you didn’t pay out on day one, you now have to pay a $55 upgrade fee for the lifetime one.
That decision really needs to be made at the start to avoid additional costs.
Well my Navigraph subscription is additional, and the navdata within the sim itself (which you’re presumably referring to) not only is already included in the price of the sim, but even that isn’t complete - no airways!
To me it’s about looking at the cost of other, similar products, and this is well in excess of other flight sim nav products. I can afford $91. To me it’s the principle. But that’s my problem, not the developer’s. If he gets 1,000 buyers on day 1, he’s right and I’m wrong.
I was also referring to Navigraph, but I take your point.
Its up to @ScorpionFilm422 to set the price – if you cannot afford it, or don’t think it is worth the cost, then you don’t buy it. Its as simple as that.
=====================
If I were setting the pricing, consider the product is potentially improving at least over the next 3 years, I would set a Buy It Now Price,
If pilots wanted to buy it yearly
1st year 40% of Buy It now Price
2nd year 40% of buy it now Price
3rd year 40% of buy it now Price - and now you own it (no more payments)
ie you pay a total of 120% the Buy it now price if you spread the payments over 3 years.
If after year 1, you want to buy it, its an additional payment of 70% of Buy It now Price
ie you pay a total of 110% the **Buy it now price *
And a guarantee, if you have made at least ONE payment, and the developer decides to abandon the product, you get license update to run it for ever.
My 2 cents, but at the end of the day, I’m happy with whatever @ScorpionFilm422 decides, including occasionally putting it on a lower Sale price for a promotional period if appropriate,
Lecture is unnecessary. Nobody has said any different.
It’s funny. As soon as we talk about money, spirits are heated.
So I see that a little explanation on the price is needed.
This product required a significant investment in development time. There are also structural and operating costs. It is therefore impossible to provide such a product for free.
The price model (annual payment) was chosen for two reasons:
- To minimize the selling price. This represents around 2 euros per month which seems more than reasonable. Your Navigraph subscription already costs you 7.5 euros per month.
- To overcome the simulator’s youthful problems. It is indeed quite possible that the product will no longer work for a while due to an evolution of the simulator. It is a risk that exists although we do everything to avoid it. If the product no longer works, it is sufficient to no longer renew its license. This risk should decrease over time.
Some users resisting an annual payment have claimed a price for a lifetime license. We have therefore responded to this request with a lifetime license price corresponding to 3 times the price per year, which seems logical and correct.
Everyone will be able to decide which formula is the most interesting for him (or her).
The price of the product to remember is therefore 2 Euros per month (approximately).
Our advice is to favor the annual payment at least for the first year while waiting for the simulator to become a mature product and for the GTN750 to evolve accordingly. Then you can decide either to continue on an annual payment, or to upgrade to the lifetime license. It won’t cost you more than getting a lifetime license right away.
A small additional remark concerning the support. We are committed to providing the most responsive support possible and responding to requests for development. This is a criterion that must be considered in the purchase decision.
The Basic package already offers advanced features for a completely free product. There is even a collaborative support (discord) which is provided free of charge for users of the Basic package.
Now everyone is free to buy the product or not.
To conclude, just remember the price of 2 Euros per month ($ 2.5 for our American friends)
So buy, or not.
I’m fine with the price.
And the yearly model makes sense to me. Because no one knows if MS at sometime will drop the Sim. Wouldn’t be the first time.
So it makes sense for me to only invest for one year. And i like the fact that the subcription ends after a year, if i do nothing.
You just have to wait for “black friday”;
No just kidding …
it is correct
Do you plan to release some sort of development roadmap? Knowing what new features might be planned in the upcoming months might help the decision to buy or subscribe.
Also, how often do you think will you be able to release new versions with new features? Once a year, once a month…
Not possible to have a fixed dev roadmap because it depends too much of the sim itself. We are also very flexible and take care, if we can, of the user’s requests.
We plan to work soon on airways and on the GTN650.
As for the GNS530, there will be probably many releases of the GTN750. At least we’ll publish a release after each sim update but probably more often.
I am not buying it. I am donating Euro 25.00 this year, and another Euro 50.00 next year.
I know the hard work of coding, if @ScorpionFilm422 is nearby, a bottle of wine, beer, or cup of coffee is even better. Let’s support those who deserve support! Keep it up! Happy flying!

I was thinking the exact same thing, haha
I think it’s a great addition to the sim, but the price is completely unjustified. If you were to buy it for ‘life’ (like every other ‘game’ you buy) then it costs more than pretty much every game ever released for the PC.
Just to be clear, 75€ or $92 is approximately equivalent to £65 at todays rates. That is more than GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 were when they were released.
If we stay closer to home, the Just Flight Arrow & Turbo Arrow have cost me a total of £38. I get to keep those for ‘life’ too. It comes down to value for me, and wonderful as it is, the GTN750 is not good value at the price it’s going to be being sold at.
Pricing for add-ons to this sim is dangerously close to losing the plot.
You seem to think that add-ons for flight simulators should cost less than games. That’s all peachy, but… Good luck with PMDG, FSLabs, Leonardo, QualityWings, Majestic, and… pretty much all high-quality aircraft. GTN Complete for P3D is around $60 - and that comes with an ancient AIRAC that can’t be updated. This isn’t GTA or Red Dead (not that there is anything wrong with those great games, but please don’t compare them to the simulation products!)
Like it or not this is a game. A simulation game, but a game nonetheless, so the comparison is a perfectly legitimate one to make.
To compare the GTN750 against RDR2 and claim that it costing more is justified is crazy. To get the most out of the paid 750 you also need paid subscriptions to other software, so your $92 isn’t just $92.
To keep it balanced I also mentioned that the asking price for the GTN750 is close to double the cost of both variants of the JF Arrow (£65 as opposed to just under £38). Is that justified? Not in my eyes. Is it worth 3 to 4 times what the ‘Seasons’ mod currently retails at, which significantly enhances the whole game, and where the guy is relentlessly improving and expanding that (he is literally editing the world by hand to make good where the AI has failed)? No, it absolutely isn’t.
I saw on another thread you suggesting that add on aircraft should cost upwards of $150 with an additional $30 plus for any further add-ons. In my eyes they are also completely overpriced, and I find it odd that people just seem to be willing to throw ever increasing amounts of money at them.
When a single aircraft costs more than the deluxe version of FS2020 something is very wrong, but for the purposes of this debate lets just say $150 is justified. How much development goes into modelling the 777 for example? How many systems are modelled? How much information has to be processed and understood to make it real? How many people work on that? Real world expertise will be needed as these things are just too complex for a layman to understand. Now compare that to the GTN750…does $92 still seem justified?
If you don’t like me comparing flight sims to other ‘games’ (as if it’s somehow superior) what other sims would you like me to compare it to? Trains, Trucks or Cars? Sadly FS add-ons do not stack up well at all there either.
When I started learning to fly I remember people telling me that aviation was a rip-off, and you could take something that would cost X in the non-aviation world then add a 50% premium to it because it was connected to aviation, however tenuously. I didn’t expect that to be the case when it came to aviation gaming too.
None of this takes away from what, in the 750, is a great addition to the game. The proposed cost cannot be justified however and irrespective of how much I like it, it is one that I won’t pay.
I wholeheartedly agree with what you’ve put forward JetWash1023. Good post!

G
I don’t understand the discussion. The basic is free, and if you wan’t more you have to pay. If it’s to expensive in your opinion, stay with the basic, which is also noticible better than the Stock version
Chill guys. If you are happy with the stock GNS530 or whatever, then enjoy.
For those who enjoy the GTN 750 premium, enjoy as well.
I think the point (at least for me) is that’ve I’ve being using the Premium beta and enjoying it. I was prepared to pay a sensible one-off amount to keep doing so.
The amount proposed is significantly more than I ever anticipated, and simply doesn’t stack up for me for the reasons I’ve alluded to.
