I use the toggle bound to a key and had the problem that landmark POIs were out of step so I’d have all other markers except landmark. Toggling would then switch everything else off and switch landmark markers on.
My work around for now bearing in mind that it was the landmark markers that were out of phase:
I toggled the markers so that everything except landmarks was on. Went to settings and disabled landmark markers. Then toggled again with the key bind in sim so that all markers were off. Went back to settings and turned landmarks on again. Toggle now toggles them all correctly.
Probably introduced with the Town and City marker “fix”.
There are other marker issues such as airfield markers only showing up within 5 nm of the airfield. Ship labels (now separated from aircraft labels) don’t have an available key bind to control them while flying.
Yet more frustrating examples of poorly implemented changes and bug fixes that aren’t effectively improving the sim overall.
@Gittardood1985 : could you provide a location/screenshot where you are seeing the POI Markers ?
What’s weird is that even if I enable the landmark markers, I am not seeing any at New York, I assume I should see the Statue of Liberty and others relevant downtown POIs :
Enabling in settings seems to only allow them to be toggled with a key bind in sim. Presumably you haven’t used the key bind.
Using the toggle key bind used to change the check mark in settings but now has no effect.
A/c labels settings check mark and toggle key bind still seem to work as before though. As mentioned above, this toggle no longer affects nautical/ship labels anymore when they’re enabled in settings.
Ok, got it, so it is an issue then. We should not have to use a binding key to enabled landmark markers. To which command did you bind it ?. I cannot find something related to landmark markers.
City & Airport markers can be enabled from the menu without having to use a binding command.
Thank you for the information !.
So it works using the keybinding (using the default one ALT+V)
The other issue I am seeing is that once the landmark markers activated, the only POI I am seeing close from NYC is the Metlife Stadium. I was expecting to see more for this city.
2- Launch the sim at a location with some POIs
3- The only way to enable/disable POIs is to use this command:
Expected behaviour: Landmark Markers should be displayed or not into the sim just by enabling/disabling the corresponding option in the Flight Interface menu as it works for City and Airport markers.
But am not seeing any POI markers for the pyramids, nor the POIs in the city (Egyptian Museum, Cairo Tower, Casino, Supreme Council of Universities). Toggling the ALT-V will cause the city markers to appear / disappear.
This appears to be a regression of this earlier bug from May 2025 that was fixed in v1.7.6.0, when all three types of POI could be individually enabled / disabled and viewed accordingly:
Don’t see those POIs neither. I think it is linked to this report where I reported same issue for NYC and mentioned markers can be missing in others parts of the world: Missing Landmark Markers on the world map and in flight
You can report your finding for Egypt there too.
There are certainly some POI Markers visible in 1.7.11.0 but there don’t seem to be enough.
As for toggling Visual Assistance On/Off I’ve seen different behaviours. When close to Landmark Markers they flicker when toggling but remain visible even when the City/ Airport markers disappear. When further away though only the “stalk” is visible and some of them do toggle off but others are persistant. Also, when toggling on, many more City/AirPort Markers are briefly visible in the distance but then disappear again.
Worth noting that using Visual Assistance ON and OFF keybinds the behaviour is opposite. ON hides the markers and OFF makes them visible. This includes City and Airport Markers.
On the subject of markers the new Nautical Markers can’t be toggle at all with any keybind. They can only be controlled in the settings. Great that they’re not linked to Aircraft Markers but they need their own keybind.
I have noticed airport POI markers showing up in Free Flight as I press End Flight and return to the world map. I have all markers turned off in the Flight Interface menu, but occasionally they will appear. Unfortunately, this is very difficult to document with a video or photo.
