Imagine that on the next developer stream they would say “We actually haven’t done anything on 2020 scenery yet” ![]()
This really wouldn’t surprise me….For my 2 cents…I have seen scenery looking like SU15 around where I like to zoom around…so much to the point that I no longer use a specific enhancement thingy that the devs don’t like us to mention…
Really wish they would have given some form of press release or livestream, stating that they’ve made changes here and there. Again, it’s the lack of communication that for me is professionally unacceptable. Personally have no desire to ever spend money on 2024, their lack of integrity towards the 2020 user base recently has really left a bad taste. I digress though, all in all, things DO seem to have improved…will they be long term? who knows.
Maybe one day, they’ll put a forum entry or top of screen area up that just reports ANY updates that they’ve done and would have come ‘live’. No option to reply as users on these updates, just a basic daily or weekly, monthly changelog as and when anything is modified….I feel the 2020 user base would at least feel somewhat cared for and that the concerns we continually mention on these forums is actually being addressed.
Hey there, did you manage to resolve the distance issue for your vessels?
Very well put, and my thoughts exactly.
I’m going to try and collate some photos for my own sanity if nothing else and I’ll share some here too.
Oh and thanks for asking re vessels and have no idea why but around Bilbao at north of Spain had the issue, flew up to near entrance to Bordeaux and it’s perfect again. Weird!
Pop in problem still not fixed? Half a year I havent bought 3rd addons, or upgradge anything for my flight sim stuff. Also wont buy msfs24 cuz they screw me like this.
I demand answer, what is this? I just arrived hamburg in msfs2020 and in final approach buildings and trees popping in and re-rendering in front of me. I thought this issue was even awknovledged? Haloo? This has been since SU16 launched, its amazing.
Welcome to our world of silence from Asobo and Microsoft regarding this. They’re fully aware I’m sure but their silence deafens the community and leads us to believe they don’t give a ■■■■ about fixing 2020 issues. They said at the last twitch that didn’t know or were surprised it was broken or words to that affect…makes you wonder if they ever actually pay attention to Beta testers as everyone was telling them about these issues…and they still went ahead and released…this SU16 was purely to use 1 set of map data, the same rubbish they’ve put into 2024 and also scale back to accommodate the game box customers and not the PC community. Welcome to our club where we wait, listen to crickets chirping and lose all faith in anything they say again, they have our money at the beginning, they don’t care.
Thanks! I been crying here with u guys for 6months, so not new haha! But for real they screw us its been amazing, I didnt believe it and everyone was like yes yes they will fix it and say something, well now its safe to say they did screw us for real! No one could believe it in the beginning
Not only im ■■■■■■ but not a single euro goes from my pocket to plane developers or msfs anymore, what other options I have than not to be customer anymore.
I liken it to this….
You buy a nice car…let’s say a Porsche, Ferrari or whatever you choose…after 2000KM they want to service it…when you took it in, it had say 800bhp, a nice android deck, cream leather interior….when they call you and say your car is ready for collection…the engine is now 500bhp, the deck is now a manual tune unit and the interior has been swapped to a grey velour interior cloth from a Nissan.
You walk back into the dealership and complain, and they just stare at you, then they try to say all they did was swap the spark plugs and coolant. The evidence is plain to see…everyone can see it, but they just turn around and walk off whistling in the air….oh, and you’ve just been charged for the service.
I have been in IT for over 25 years and gaming even longer and for my 2 cents..
Without exaggeration I can honestly say that in my opinion and with exception of cyber vulnerabilities the whole su16 experience is the worst example of software development and customer engagement I have personally ever seen.
Taking a wonderful experience enjoyed for years, making it substantially worse and then 6 months later many of the fundamental downgrades it brought are yet to be recognised yet alone addressed.
While the jury may still be out on the default aerial quality fixes recently (although in my comparisons I do feel they are improved but spilling paint on the floor would look better than su16 had for 6 months), flying around PG / TIN areas is an exercise in don’t spot the pop in, and after they tore out the ability for 512 x 512 aerials any area outside of TIN is a shell of what it once was.
To take you’re car metaphor further when it comes to no longer having means of leveraging the community for high resolution aerials and therefore where we stand today.. If instead you had taken that stock sports car with 800 bhp and with after market addons you had made it 2000bhp, and then the service at the dealer without notice made it 500bhp with no means to ever change your car to achieve that performance again, and then after 6 months they somehow without informing you made it 800 again (at least you think they did as no notice given), how exactly would one feel about it?
Unfortunately, I don’t believe that this will remain at the top of your charts forever.
Why? I think there will be even worse to come!
If you’ll humor me, a bit, for some early morning philosophizing, unfortunately today it has become less and less about customer satisfaction and fairness in general and more and more about big, bigger and biggest businesses bottom-line - profits.
Sadly, in my life-time, the once almost obsolete proverb of “Caveat emptor” seems to be returning at an ever accelerating pace, and not just in the flight simmer’s world.
Sadly this is the tip of the iceberg. Things have been getting worse than they used to be for many areas since 2020, particularly big tech companies use of the cloud and exerting control over consumers. AI is going to make things even worse. All companies exist to make a profit at the end of the day and sadly, if that means degrading quality they certainly will do it (as much as I hate this reality).
Sell as many Xbox consoles as possible with these related products.
What role does the PC fit into all of this ?
A secondary role as it’s clearly the secondary market now. Not that I’ve got official figures, but there have been hints in the developer videos…
