[Polls] Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Marketplace Feedback

Another fairly obvious and simple user experience flow design that they have completely not considered or thought about in practice. Why am I not surprised. If they are using AI at Microsoft for coding (and their partner studios) as I’ve heard, I think AI would have actually thought about that dilemma. It’s baffling how wrong they get things at times. Rant over.

This is what really jumps out as the fraud flag. We are seeing batches of several products at a time ALL with exactly the same number of 5 star reviews - 70, 16, 36 etc. This is statistically impossible. It could happen once by chance, but four or five times? Beyond the realm of possibility.

They don’t always work, meaning they work sometimes? Or you always have to reset them, meaning they never work?

For what it’s worth, I haven’t had to reset them once since the feature first rolled out in SU4 beta.

Often when I return to the MP after setting who I want to exclude the settings are back to square 1. I have to reset them again. Unless there is a save button I haven’t seen

Exactly what I thought, and actually I am baffled that the MP team made such a mistake. This is NOT what the user base asked. We asked for an exclude filter.

This approach is quite unethical towards new creators.

Moderators: how can we best bring up this point to the team? Should I file this somewhere else to gain traction, because this is not a real bug, but one could argue it is. Please advise.

@GhostlyFrend
This is the right topic for bringing this issue to the attention of the CMs. As you say, its not a bug (it’s working as designed, just not as users expected). Yiu could create a wish, with the marketplace tag, though there is no guarantee that the wish would be acted upon anytime soon. You might try bringing this up with the ZenDesk - they might forward your comments on as feedback, or might redirect you back to Official Microsoft Flight Simulator > Wishlist here on the forums (I don’t know their policy on this type of request.).

Might I ask the same about the other topic we’ve been discussing regarding rating ‘anomalies’? How best to raise this further?

I’d like to think it’s already on the Marketplace team’s radar, even if not a high priority. I’m not sure a Wishlist item is appropriate.

Perhaps encouraging everyone here to submit it as a query to the next Q&A is another option. I’m not going to doggedly pursue it as I’ve no vendetta or agenda besides wishing for a fair playing field for all developers, but I also don’t want it to be ignored and I think the sentiment holds true with others here.

Hello @Mustang242Sqn,

We try our best to read every post on these forums (and especially posts in the Official Microsoft Flight Simulator > Polls & Feedback section). We have already documented player feedback regarding perceived unfair manipulation of the Marketplace rating system and have passed this on internally. We don’t have any further information about this to share at this time.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

Hello everyone,

I would like to raise a concern regarding the current limitations developers face when offering upgrades or enhancements to products purchased outside of the Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace.

I fully understand that factors such as piracy prevention, licensing, and platform security play an important role in shaping these restrictions. That said, it seems reasonable to believe there could be a more creative or flexible solution that allows developers to provide upgrade paths or loyalty options for customers who originally purchased their products externally.

At present, the lack of such a mechanism places both developers and end users at a disadvantage. Developers are limited in how they can support and evolve their products, while customers may feel discouraged from repurchasing content they already own simply to access improvements or newer versions.

I respectfully suggest that exploring alternative models—such as account-based verification, upgrade tokens, or controlled external validation—could help strike a balance between protecting the platform and supporting developers’ long-term sustainability.

Thank you for your time and for considering this feedback. I appreciate the ongoing efforts to improve the ecosystem for both creators and users.

Kind Regards,

Anthony

I’ve always been under the impression that third parties that offer their products outside the marketplace have an easier time providing updates. They are not beholden to the approval and release delays we’ve seen in the marketplace. They just release the update on whatever platform you purchased it.

Maybe I’m not understanding. Do you have some examples?
