The Career Mode is nearly unplayble,…
and many many more Bugs, issues, Crashes…its so frustrating
PS5 Pro. Massive stutter every 4 seconds in the NAMC YS-11 lasting for 1 sec. In Free Flight. The screen/game stops moving for 1 sec. Really jarring.
Taking off and in the air. Normally stutters are around airports. This was in Africa, over the sea and then over bush and land at 1800’.
Then flew the TBM 930 - no stutters from same airport and same route.
Flew A320 neo - no stutters
I can’t see any air traffic in the sky while cruising?, because if I see anything, it’s just a single plane and that’s it.
Good afternoon and hello,
Gamer since the first computer games appeared and was looking forward to playing a Flight Sim on the PS.
Installation was good and first thing that was apparent was the blue hue, not a big issue as the world detail is pretty good compared to say X-Plane 12.
Thought the career mode would be a good way to invest time in the game and learn some new things.
Deep breath…
Currently Level 147.
Things I’ve learned:
NPCs and vehicle movements are unbelievable. The spawning of aircraft as the mission starts at an airport. Pan around and a jet liner pops up. Rarely see that in other games yet with MSFS 2024 it’s now expected. Jetway protrudes through aircraft. NPCs walking through aircraft. Fire fighting mission and the plane appeared leaning against the hangar. Vehicles and aircraft bouncing. Jetways not connecting to jetliner yet passengers board. ATC interrupting your reply. The way how sometimes you hear the flight being called and sometimes you don’t.
The stutters get more apparent as you play. Is it the hardware not quite unto the job or the programming. Often feels like the game is 2 steps behind itself. Don’t get that with GT7, RDR2, FC26, WRC or the garish Avatar all of which have never crashed or glitched out.
‘Hi it’s Sara the PURSUER’. Feel like they did some speaktotext thing here as mispronunciations and general spelling is first school level. I mean ‘Gloster’ when it’s Gloucester.
See a long haul flight of say 10 million on the mission list and during the boarding process the game craps out before getting to the taxi section. The one where you’re ready for takeoff and it says you damaged the landing gear and crashed thus receiving a heap of bad reputation. ‘You left the parking stand before boarding finished’ thankfully nothing lost aside from your time.
The skipping to feature is a lottery. May arrive at the decent with full flaps and too fast and get penalised or arrive in VFR pattern that was suitable for a small airplane but not a 737 and certainly not when pointing at a mountain, again penalised. The EFB recommending a flight level that the aircraft was not designed to fly at.
Times when you’re unable to acknowledge ATC and resort to pausing the game mid decent and using the cursor mode to answer. Sure it’s impressive that the interface for a PS controller is akin to building a ship in a bottle but interruption of a game because of poor programming is amateurish.
Or is it poor programming? Could it be that developers were in a silo and didn’t communicate effectively. As in ‘Hi it’s Brian your Co-Pilot’ only to see that Brian has undergone some gender reassignment surgery. In fact there are many many cases of right voice wrong name. That smacks of poor communication between departments or actual in house testing nevermind the Beta releases where such things get ironed out.
Oh it’s moan moan from me during my first post here isn’t it. Well yes, as it takes a fair bit for me to join a forum and be so negative about a game that has brilliant potential.
So much time lost and frustration with this game, more than any game I’ve played and that’s a big disappointing fact…plus the game has been out for years! Asobo and Microsoft know their stuff you’d think. Speaking of years…Still no heavy cargo missions for my Airbus and to be honest I’d rather them concentrate on fixing the basics than hype up a new feature that most likely will not work as described.
I like the parachute on the Vision Jet. It makes me smile.
Addon:
The plane is at Lomé in Africa and after 3 failed attempts because the Captain was unable to acknowledge the request from ATC ( opened up the dialogue box and other than requesting a pushback their was no option to acknowledge) I dipped into the credits to transfer to another airport (Johannesburg) and yippee this happened.
“Unexpected error
An unexpected error occurred and you cannot continue this mission. You will be redirected to the last place you were.
Error code: 309-400-00210”
Sorry but after nearly 2 hours of my time wasted and I guesstimate around +40 errors/crashes in the time I’ve played this ‘game’ I’m out.
I’d preordered and shelled out for the ‘Premium Deluxe’ edition.
Will check-in here from time to time in the vain hope that Asobo & Microsoft pull their fingers out and give the Flight Sim people what they deserve.
Oh and if anyone wants a couple of Jet Liners (Dirty) they’ll be sold for scrap.
NAMC still has a massive stutter every 4 to 5 secs. The plane literally stops mid air. The propellers stop turning as well. The aircraft stops moving through the scenery for fully 2s. PS5 pro.
Sounds like a ram issue.
Can’t be. It’s the only aircraft to do it. Airbus is ok. Brand new ps5 pro with only msfs2024 on it.
Yep sounds even more like a ram issue.
Knock down settings, turn off ALL forms of traffic, turn off live weather, turn off Photogrammetry, remove extra liveries and any 3rd party add ons.
If it doesnt stutter after that, add a little at a time until it does.
Terrain can be enough to throw it off a cliff such as SoCal will cause freezing due to ram levels if not managed correctly.
Try using the tool kit to log RAM usage and identify when and where it spikes
Ps5 everything is on medium. There are not many options in the graphics section already. I have multi player off, I have ai aircraft off already. I will give it a go with photogram… off.
If the airbus is ok, why do you say ram. Surely that would use the same or more ram??
When I get home I will post a picture of available settings. If i lower anything else my graphics will be on low and not be worth looking at.
Also, does the ps5 have a toolkit?
Ps5 probably doesn’t have a tool kit. But your pc does. Fly the same in your pc and check ram usage. See what it peaks at and compare with available ram for ps5
A ps5 pro has 16Gb of GDDR6 memory for graphics plus 2Gb of DDR5 for the OS. With everything on medium, apart from previous mention, this is almost the same as my 5080 PC.
I thought it was 16 with 12.5 max available while the rest is used for the OS?
Unless you have a special one?
Hello everyone!
Playing MSFS2024 for the first time and for around 6 weeks now on an OG PS5 and here’s my opinion:
Download and installation were smooth, no problems.
First disappointment was that the FCR tool is missing. I watched multiple reviews on YouTube before buying the game, but no one mentioned this.
Next I was looking for options to get a rolling cache or download regions. Cleaned my SSD before, so I had over 200GB free space. But, no such option on PS5.
So I started playing and while I did enjoy most flights, more and more bugs and the performance soon started to reduce enjoyment.
The game seems to bring the PS5 to it’s limits. The framerate is mostly ok when flying GA, but larger/more complex planes can bring the framerate down. I saw lag and stuttering when taking off with the Boeing 747 for example.
Most annoying is the constant pop in of objects and/or change in details.
Flying over larger cities like Paris or London there’s constant change for textures and shadows. So you look down at the city and things are constantly morphing and popping in.
But it’s not just cities. I flew along a river (I think it was the Mississippi, but mot sure), watching the scenery through the side window. Suddenly a boat/ship appears out of nowhere. 3 seconds later another one appears.
Another problem: When looking around during flight you have to do it very slow, otherwise whole forests or mountains will pop in while you’re looking.
There are a lot more things that flatten the enjoyment, like the awful, awful UI/UX, countless bugs (camera settings not working, UI not responding, settings don’t get respected, so you have suddenly passengers on board, although you set it to “0” on the flight before, helipads that are inside a building, starting flights in air with the plane completely out of control, starting flights on ground and the plane (in this case the Joby) already moving and crashing as soon as you click “Ready to fly” and so on. But I think those are present in every version and not directly related to the PS5.
BTW: A bit strange, that you don’t need a MS-Account to play the Sim on PS5, but you do need one to use the official forums and provide feedback.
I’m quite happy that you don’t need a Microsoft account for PS5. The idea that the same account be used for MS Office, my kids Minecraft, and a ‘game’ on PS5 is so moronic that it beggars belief that someone came up with it. They are completely unrelated categories.
