[Polls] World Update XI: Canada Discussion

(As a cross post)

I ended up downloading the third party BMWorld & AVSim model of CYUL. As mentioned in the cross post, I was up at CYUL last week and did a compare and contrast

Yes, I’ve been seeing your posts showing comparing images. But you’re not stating any conclusions about them. I’m not sure what to make of the posts.

Is that all you meant, “Here they are. Well, that’s cool, they look kind of close to each other.”? Do you have any conclusions about the likeness/differences?

Not having been there ever, I don’t know what you’re seeing between the two. They’re just some pictures of mostly sky to me. I’m sure they’re more than that to you.

I mean, I’ve done the same at the airport I fly out of most, in Nashua, NH. To me, the likeness between the pictures and screenshots I took is uncanny, and I stated that. I’d love to know what you think about your comparisons (either positive or negative thoughts, it’s just fun to know).

Agreed @AlexLegend165.

It is July 2024 and, despite being so close YYZ Pearson International Airport, Mississauga’s Credit River (Credit River - Wikipedia) is still elevated nearly 300 meters above its actual bed (from just north of Lakeshore Blvd to Highway 401 (i.e., for approx. 12 km)).

Yes. @RomanDesign has a great freeware fix (https://flightsimulation.romandesign.ca/product/toronto-gta-enhancement-pack-free-copy/). But given the Credit Rivers proximity to Pearson, it still seems like a bizarre bug for MS/Asobo not to have noticed and fixed.

Canada’s topographical and hydrological maps are not state secrets. So, I wonder if is possible to use AI systems to compare these with Bing’s / MSFS’s topography and identify possible anomalies for manual inspection and correction?

Surely today’s AI systems could be trained to identify rivers and other water bodies from the labels, colours and legends in maps, ….and then flag these as requiring elevations at least equal to or lower than the surrounding land (and that they should running in valleys, rather than along the crest of hills )!

He does good work, and I’ve bought his marketplace airports. People are probably donating so he continues to do good stuff, not to “buy” his free cn tower.

Me, I want to see him do Gander. Historically important airport for WW2, and averted a major aviation disaster on 9/11.
