Not sure, but your pictures probably show an additional problem.
They look like automatically masked out shadows, as it seems the pattern is everywhere dark shadows were cast during the time the satelite took the images.
The shadows are so dark, they don’t have any detail in them (cause of high contrast in image between light and dark parts) and thus got masked out and replaced with a generic colour or texture pattern which did not contain any info about trees or other things that should be on top.
Similar to when aerial imagery is covered with thick clouds and gets replaced with generic ground texture that leads to these odd patches that don’t fit well into their surroundings as the satelite cameras (at least the ones taking images in visible spectrum) just can’t see through the clouds.
This might be worth it’s own bug report.

I agree that the city of Bern and surrounding mountains look BLA compared to Glasgow Scotland. I had a friend from Glasgow say he was able to see his red car in front of his house in the sim. Heck, along the river in Bern it is not even correct in that Kirchenfeldbrücke bridge is WRONG and they missed the house under the bridge. Glasgow and Bern are not on the same level of detail in the sim now. I now know why Jorge felt that the UK needed another update and I hope that he feels the same about Switzerland. The mountains in the Alps look like they are missing everything in some places. I just had to vent, thanks! Oh yeah and the Ely Cathedral is still backwards after World Update 17.

Yeah and look at those vote numbers. Sometimes I really wonder what people see if they use this sim? Only 16 people thinking that aerials are regressed in WU18? Seriously?

Are you serious? So do you really prefer recent satelite imagery although it is much worse than the old one? I would rather see different building if it is highly detailed satelite imagery with proper colours not some greentint lowres garbage.

Hello @BattleOverlord,
Please explain what you mean by the bolded part of this comment above.

I think the game can visually look very impressive around the world and not just this specific region. Although I’m noticing more issues with the photogrammetry details just popping into view around my aircraft as I fly around Germany or Switzerland in busy towns and cities where there’s photogrammetry.
I play mostly on the Series X console and I’m heppy with visuals and performance but I was just surprised to see textures and details, including POIs loading in late. Anyhow, it is what it is I suppose. I’m sure Asobo have their hands full but I would really like the game to have no pop in or objects loading in late as that is kind of annoying in 2024, haha!
Recently I was wondering why it can take several seconds for all the photogrammetry to load and monitored network activity. I was surprised to see how much data is actually being loaded by the sim while flying over photogrammetry areas. 100 MBit/s is not even enough …
This should be Munich airport EDDM on Series X? Really? Even the generic one was much better. The buildings and terminals are not loading, the LOD is disastrous…

I remember there have been a few reports about terminals not being shown but this looks a bit extreme. Guess they are all in this same thread though I don’t remember if any of them were able to solve their issues.
I don’t have an Xbox so I have no idea if you have any means of checking that, but could it be you are running out of memory?
I just had a look at EDDM on PC a few days ago and it looked pretty good. The only thing I noticed was being able to get under the map at a lot of spots at ground level next to the terminals using the drone cam.

I have seen the same, flying around Como. This includes washed-out shadowy mountainsides, which also appears in Switzerland. See the light-green mountain in the center of the distant mountains, plus the washed-out slope on the right.

iceman - do you mean this?

But it looks as if using their own Bing Map were the only way to do it.
Around Innsbruck, it looks like a mixing of winter and summer tiles…
The new Bing maps may be high resolution but if they are non homogeneous, it’s still bad.

If the other side of the mountain looks normal, I think yes, that’s the same issue.

I believe it is self-explanatory. W. Churchill once said: “The only statistics you can trust are the ones you have falsified yourself”. POLL is basically a statistic how (in this case update) is doing or is accepted by community. I know what I saw in the past around Switzerland and Austria and I know what I see after this update and unfofrunately it cant be unseen.

Hello @BattleOverlord,
Sorry, I’m still not fully understanding your point here. Are you saying that the volunteer forum moderators and/or Community Managers have falsified the results of the poll?
Thanks,

On the posted image you can see what I meant in one of my previous posts, when talking about “color transitions are harsh”.
Exact position is shown on the screenshot. I cannot remember having seen anything like this before WU18.

Unfortunately, after having flown more by now, I also need to downgrade my first positive impressions.
I still really like the elevation data, the custom airports and also POI are mostly nice (they only need to blend better into their surroundings mostly).
But… just had a look around Switzerland again - the insane green tint of everything just ruins the whole scene. Looks like wearing green glasses. In addition, the dark green slopes can be often seen.
Also I don’t remember having these baked-in tree shadows anywhere that extreme before, they make the hills look even more weird.
I know the green tint is an issue since the start of FS2020 and we are all having high hopes for FS2024 to have a solution. Guess the Austria/Switzerland is extremely hit by this, due to all the meadows
