You are absolutely right, didn’t thought seasons at all.
Edit: they can put snow on top of tin buildings, so it cannot be so hard with trees and then fall colours too.

Apart from the map problems, which this looks like being, the scenic details and resolution is better. See my view of Bern (one of the bespoke cities)
Wrong, the moment you use a mod to reduce tree size to not have those unrealistic big trees all over the world, the photogrammetry tree blobs in Berne are very visible and annoying. They used the 3D trees to cover it up…
What annoys me most at the moment is the absolute silence regarding this totally borked WU. Not a single word from any dev. No word on whether or not those bad aerials are a bug/mistake or what went wrong or if nothing went wrong and it was fully on purpose. Nothing. Silence. For almost a month now…
They never reply to anything here, guess that’s their MS/Asobo policy.
But they confirm in every Devstream, that the forums are always read closely ![]()
Hello @GeeStoerty,
Our team does our best to read virtually every post on the forums, and we post responses to various threads multiple times daily. You can read all the responses from the MSFS Team here:
https://forums.flightsimulator.com/g/MSFSCommunityTeam/activity/posts
If you don’t see us responding to a specific question/topic, please see this section from the Code of Conduct:
If you don’t see us responding, it isn’t because we are ignoring you. Sometimes we don’t have a good answer, or we are looking for an answer or we cannot comment on the issue at the time.
We also have other work we have to do that isn’t on the forums so if you don’t see us around, we are working on something else for you!
Thanks,
MSFS Team
Frankly I did not even realize this, but Zürich is much worse, with large areas of unrealistic trees sticking out of the rest.
With all due respect, but it is not you forum mods that should read such feedback, but the devs itself. At least if something is such a bad regression like WU18 in whole Switzerland. Otherwise devs are again surprised if a question regarding such issues is raised in the Dev Q&A, like it happened several times now…
Hello @AnkH828072,
The forum mods are volunteers from the community who help keep the forums organized, move errant posts to the right subsection, and ensure all posts adhere to the Code of Conduct. They are not paid employees of Microsoft or Asobo.
The Community Managers (me, @Jummivana, @iinKWest, and @Chewwy94) are not the same as moderators. We are employees of the MSFS Team. We carefully document and share all your feedback and concerns directly with the developers.
Thanks,
MSFS Team
sticking with the subject of GU-18 - how is it, I keep encountering faults werever I randomly fly to or from. I flew from Memmingen (well done) to Reutte (Tyrol), were I encountered just north of Fuessen (D) a large patch of brown stuff, on approach to the airport - too-high trees on the north side, and after heading up the valley, I got some of those huge mountainsides of “nothing”.
A not-so-nice colour division line near Speyer (D)
My answer was aimed to the post before, about Devs or Asobo themselves replying. I know you / CM’s and Mods are always active here ![]()
People are just hoping for more direct feedback sometimes if they find something going into the completely wrong direction.
But then - will all the problems we have discovered now be solved in 2924, as they said the D-A-CH update is now what 2024 will bring us worldwide quality of this kind. .
Hello @GeeStoerty,
The devs are very very busy doing their jobs, which is to work on MSFS (and MSFS2024) itself, not posting on the forums. Rest assured, the Community Team very meticulously captures all feedback from these forums (and everywhere else where people are discussing MSFS including Discord, Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and more), and we’re constantly sharing your issues and concerns directly with the devs.
Additionally, while they prefer to remain anonymous, many of the devs – especially from the QA team – regularly read the forums themselves, particularly the Bug Reporting Hub section and official feedback threads such as this one.
Thanks,
MSFS Team
I think everyone here gets the message, that our forum contributions are shared to the devs. What’s deeply missing however is a statement from the devs to the community about those massive regressions themselves, that have been introduced with this WU. Despite being very busy with sim development such a statement should be possible.
now we know at least what to expect in fs2024. this WU reflects what FS2024 will be according to Jörg.
I’m reasonably sure Jörg wasn’t aware of the problems with this WU and didn’t mean anything of the sort.
MSFS today is leaps and bounds better than it was in 2020 and nothing about it cost another penny. There aren’t many games that are being enhanced with DLC content at least every two months without any extra charges.
I’m really sick of the constant negative attitude and self-victimisation.
Ok they really did blow this update. It’s done. There are many reasons stuff like this goes sideways and it’s almost never intentional and the devs have proven they are listening and trying to fix stuff.
The question now is how to fix it and I guess solving the whole problem with the satellite imagery is more complex than just flipping a switch.
Being that it’s such a closely guarded secret on the forum. ![]()
+1 to what Mr Woof said. And it’s not like every update is bad, this one is more of a one-off accident. The prior UK update was, apart from the bridges, spectacular.
Oddly on the live stream the devs said it wasn’t possible to fix the sandy bridges in MSFS 2020 due to sim limitations, yet a smart community member fixed them very nicely and uploaded a free mod on fs.to. This kind of inconsistency can be frustrating as a user.
We all love this simulator very much. That’s why we are all here to express our satisfactions and also dissatisfactions. I’m sorry you have to see the negative aspects of something you love, trust me it’s hard sometimes to write and express the dismay over something we all hold so dear. One member is not above another because they have a positive attitude toward everything the devs do in the sim. They need to hear the good and the bad and try and help us either trouble shoot their issue or come into the forums and let us know that they are aware and working on a fix. The silence is breeding a culture of despondency.
In some areas yes, but in many no. Every update over this last year Starting with SU14 has had issues some major issues. It seems since they announced 2024 way to early the entire 2020 sim has suffered. While many games/sims don’t get “free” updates yes, I have also never seen a title regress so far from what we had in 2021 until today in 2024. Again these updates are not free If the dev team has to take time and money to go back and fix all the issues they didn’t catch before release.
And SU15 on Xbox series x they have essentially turned off OLOD/TLOD without a fix, we are still waiting on Xbox teams to create that new GDK that SU15 should have waited to release with. All for a ‘memory optimaziton’ that didn’t work and now they can’t/wont fix it before their new sim drops in November. It’s been 3months, it will be 4months exactly by the next Dev livestream, and yet they have barely brushed over the issue. Seems every update this year has robbed Peter to pay Paul. They’ve bloated the sim to an unrecognizable state, and we now have the short blanket syndrome. Many folks on the forums have expressed many times that any SU or WU is hard to look forward to because they often come with sim-breaking features. With just about 2months to release of the new sim I doubt we will see any fixes for 2020, until well after the release. Was that on purpose? I think so, I hope not but at the end of the day this is a business and money makes people and devs do crazy things.
I get your point, explanation of one that might seem constantly negative: I am not the kind of guy praising good things for what they are: good things. Means: yes, MSFS is the best sim I ever had and I enjoy it most of the time. But if devs come and advertise a world update with a trailer that is not possible to get inside the sim (due to filters used or whatever postprocessing that was done) and one of three regions of the D-A-CH update is totally regressed, it drives me mad and I come here to express my disappointment.
Isnt it always like this? People not having issues with a software do not go into forums and tell everyone that they do not have any issues, no? Forums of a software/game are very often filled by a collection of users that DO have a issue with the software/game at least somewhere and as such, it might already be slightly negatively biased anyway.
But then. Get this ■■■■ WU18 fixed ![]()
The longer I fly around the more I doubt that there was a proper QA. It is by far not just a Switzerland issue, the green, treeless shadowed mountain slopes can be found everywhere in the Alps. WU18 is a desaster.
