Poor performance in certain areas when near ground and large clumps of trees

Areas that consist of large clumps of trees absolutely crushes performance. Areas such as central park in New York and San Francisco can be included for examples. Generally, computer performs well in flights averaging around 30 fps. When low in areas like these, framerates drop nearly half. What’s strange about this is that I’ve noticed big performance drops in only these certain areas, other parts including Bora Bora (which has a lot of trees) don’t perform so poorly unlike NYC and San Francisco. My game is rendered at 1920x1080 and uses the Medium graphics preset. Anyone else notice this?

To reproduce, begin simulation in an area with a large clump of trees. Central Park in New York for example. Issue can be observed when trees are in frame and low.

You will need a hefty GPU to run those billions of trees the sim is generating. I have a 2060super and it would dip to 30 possibly below but I am running 1440p ultrawide. However I do not get that performance hit on 1080p.This is one of the very reasons why other flight sims use 2D generated trees.
Low level Clouds also can have big hit on performance depending on where you fly.

Yeah I noticed that, and usually I’d not complain as I do have a very old GPU. But the thing is, I notice that this doesn’t occur in all areas where there are billions of trees. Only certain areas. Looking at areas where Mount Rushmore is in the USA (which have tons of trees), all the trees don’t touch a frame. But NYC does? Just a very strange phenomenon to me.

It’s maybe those type of trees.
Not all the trees give me an fps hit either.
Been like that way since launch.
More trees to hide the hideous photogrammetry ones.

This makes a lot of sense, kind of clears my concerns a bit. I still believe they should look into this though. I can’t imagine how these locations will run on the Series S. I sure wish the GPU market wasn’t so bad either.

I do not think they will look into it in a serious manner .Its been an issue for over a year now and was never addressed. I find the game runs incredibly slow even in areas like these after SU5. For now I keep it on medium flying over areas like these.
