Just checked the latest update(today) of Known Issues. The problem of unpayable fps drops on take off and landing when Photogrammetry is siwiched ON does not even merit a mention, despite the fact it has well over 100 votes on this section of the forum.
I wish a developer would at least acknowledge they are investigating⦠this is a very big issue.
I donāt understand why they donāt reduce the LOD while the airplane is moving on the ground. That should solve a great deal of the problem.
Yes it would be perfect if they could reduce the lod by 100 on the ground, I see no difference in image quality between Lod 100 and 200 on the ground, but the performance difference is significant.
To have a 10900K anything that will exceed 45 FPS will saturate one of the precursor cores, I am in WQHD with ultra high settings and LOD set to 150, I have exactly the same results between a 1080 Ti and a 3080 Ti with exactly the same settings on the 2 cards. Satuiration of one of the hearts is equal to stuttering.
We are not on red dead redemption or any other game, the simultauer needs more CPU than GPU.
run the task manager with all logical cores and see where one of your cores caps out, if 100% stuttering
Again, they should just redoce LOD by half when a landing aircraft goes below 50 ft., while the airplanes are taxiing and while a departing aircraft is below 50 ft. I do that in X-Plane with a script and itās a huge win.
While theyāre working on LOD, they should work on ways to show objects on islands when thereās very little scenery being shown. Sure would make flying near Hawaii, in the Caribbean and around Greece a lot more cool.
It seems to me that all this emphasis on LOD ignores the fact that this problem only arose after SU5/ WU6. My LOD setting has always been 100. Before SU5/WU6, no problem with Photogrammetry switched on or off⦠After SU5/WU6, massive fps drops on take off and landing when Photogrammetry is switched on. All planes, all airports. LOD setting unchanged. I donāt see how LOD can be the cause!
Well, when they take out the Reno Air Race in November, planes flying at 200 knots 50 meters from the ground⦠itās going to be like watching movies of the Lumiere brothers
This is correct⦠nothing to do with LOD settings, but rather a photogrametry bug affecting certain machines and settings that was introduced with WU6.
It seems that Asobo with all these previous updates constantly trying to do the best to make users switch back to X-plane/Prepar(((
Was getting stuttering on ground, take off and landing on my RTX3070, tried everything from lots of forums, decided to REFORMAT & REINSTALL windows & MSFS, smooth as butter nowā¦.hope this helps.
Thanks, it really does feel like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut but this does appear to be a route to resolution.
I tried the upgrade from W10 to W11 in the hope that would solve my issues, that didnāt work so itās now looking likely Iāll need to carry out a format and reinstall, not something I want to be doing with regularity because of what is ultimately a game.
Quick update - Iāve bitten the bullet and started a clean install, Iāll report back later once the epic re-install of MSFS is complete - takes longer than an OS install
Reformat and reinstall of Windows seems to be the only solution that works.
So the clean install of W11 has resulted in perfect performance on the ground. Crazy that we have to do this but there you go, hopefully no other updates will need the same course of action.
Yes, that does understandingly seem like the only solution thus far, however I donāt understand why it has come down to this complete reinstall of both products though. You have two MS products with Windows and MSFS, with obviously some sort of issue that developed after the install of WU6 causing major photogrammetry issues for many. This is something they need to address and remedy with a fix. I love the product, I will always continue to support the product, but having to do complete reinstalls every single time there is an issue seems so antiquated at this stage.
MSFS/Asobo⦠Please investigate this issue.
Tickets only get us so far, and if there are not enough votes it may not be under consideration. If it is under consideration, it would be great to give us a proper mention.
What worries me the most is that although a clean Windows install makes the bug go away, the incompatibility may be caused by other software. For most people, it will take some time to get their windows to the state before the reinstall in terms of software, so it is possible that the problem comes back if users happen to install the same software that might have caused the bug originally.
Question to those who reinstalled. Did you manage to get all the software installed already? I mean games, video/music players, office, some pdf viewers, all that stuff which in my case amount to probably around 20-30.
I only run MSFS on my PC Desktop, except for Chrome and Spotify, I use a Macbook for my daily work.
I have been doing some testing. I have this same experience with the FBW and CRJ. Been testing at iniBuilds Gatwick but have noticed similar things at other payware airports
- Loaded in stand 109 at iniBuilds Gatwick. FPS 48-50.
- Push back and turn 90 degress FPS drops to 40 -45.
- Taxi to runway FPS 40.
- Take off to 3000 ft and turn 180 degrees downwind leg. FPS 50-60
- Fly until 10nm out from ILS26L FPS 50-60
- Turn to approach, FPS slowly reduces
- Last 1000 ft FPS 32-40
- Land and rollout (32- 35)
- Then major stutters and slow dow occur when turning off the taxiway and moving round towards the terminal and then taxi to terminal FPS drops below 30 (approx 27-33)
Now this isnāt really terrible and I probably only really notice the stutters on landing and taxi back but why the drop of 15- 20 FPS from loading in at the gate, flying a circuit and then taxiing back. (Approx 20 mins)
PS Anyone else have some really short pop-in at iniBuilds Gatwick? The carpark you fly over when landing on 26L, the cars spawn in as you just about to fly over them along with other clutter at the threshold!
This is a good point and itās probably the only way we will track the issue. Iām still absolutely convinced that this was a result of WU6.
Following my W11 re-install and install of MSFS Iāve been gradually restoring my usual PC programs (not many) and incrementally adding any addons. Iām pleased to report that Iām now back to normal on the PC and in sim and I still donāt have any issues; Iāll continue to monitor if I add anything else to see if there are any conflicts.
I have a few limited addons for the sim (community folder) but I do run Spad.nxt (Class Echo support), FSUIPC7 (Pilot2ATC) all of these are back up and running with no issuesā¦phew!
