I am rather dissapointed by the poor quality of the sceneries in my country (Germany). It seems that this SIM is made for the US. I cannot here the tower info in my language. The airfield for example of Stuttgart EDDS is missing but a gras field 5 miles away from there is available!!. Two POI in Stuttgart are missing, the famous TV-Tower appears as a broken cigarette, no way of orientation for VFR training.
There are too many aircrafts available which is a complete nonsense as most of the users like to fly at a moderate speed in order to be able to follow what is going on on the ground at smoothly moving scenerie. Special auircrafts could be available on demand.
Another weak point is that download is only possible connected on a LAN network as it does not work via WLAN / WIFI.
There is a lot do do for MS to offer a reliable product.
Welcome to the party of disappointment!
While some stuff you mention is correct, most issues fall into your own management.
Yes you are right, basically all the global flight sims that I ever used (FS 3-veteran here) were heavily US-focused, at least upon release. We can assume that this guaranteed the most revenue for developers for decades. As it was like this forever now, this fact (despite repeatedly not playing out nice for the rest of the world) isn’t really worth a rant. Times change and we really should welcome that not only MS/Asobo but also 3rd party developers now slowly turn away from their heavy focus onto the anglosphere (It may never cease to exist though).
That you can not hear your tower in German isn’t that unrealistic. While being only one of 7 official ICAO languages (German isn’t one of them), English certainly might be the most reliable on a global scale. Yes, in reality it is possible to contact your tower in your local language for VFR, yet consider it a goal to do it in English to participate more proficiently. There is nothing wrong about English. Trust me, the ATC in MSFS has way bigger problems (which alone would justify a thread like this).
EDDS missing, well, that was a nice surprise wasn’t it? They advertized 30?000 airfields being in the sim and we all thought “Wow that must be all of them”. I am certain 99 % of us (who didn’t have alpha/beta-access) expected to have a long list of airports, beginning with the biggest airports and then sorted down with decreasing airfield sizes. So after 30000 implemented airports, only some unknown dirt strips could be missing, right? Didn’t we all expect this?
Somehow MS/Asobo while teasing us with pictures of handmade beautiful airports, forgot to also put a disclaimer onto their product, telling us: Caution! Includes only airports which are not pixelated or clouded on aerial bing maps! Please check your local area on bing.com to see if your desired content is included. Yeah, well, long story short: There are thousands of airports missing, and there are major airports among them, even more important than EDDS, think of Beijing and Istanbul. There are numerous threads and complaints about this.
Your POIs on the other hand, well, not sure why you expect to find POIs globally. Compared to predecessors, we really can be happy with what we have already. Of course more POI are always better, but I see no basis to expect or even demand a global coverage out of the box.
So you see no way of orientation for VFR training? I am sorry but then you have a real attitude problem. There are lots of VFR suited things on the ground, if you find “no way” because 2 POIs are missing, then you wouldn’t have that much chance with those 2 POIs present.
How can there be too many aircraft available? How does it hurt your gameplay that you know there are other aircraft available? Don’t get your point here.
“most of the users like to fly at a moderate speed in order to be able to follow what is going on on the ground” Sorry but you certainly can’t speak for most of the users. And frankly you have no idea what most users do in flight sims.
Special aircraft will be available, on demand. 3rd party developers will release them and you can then consider to purchase them. Yet this would add even more aircraft and you already complained that there are too many (I find this confusing).
If you can only download via LAN and not Wifi, how would this be on MS/Asobo to correct? They don’t have any clue how you are connected to the internet. There is nothing they can do about your home wifi issues.
I agree with this, but based on other things.
