Dlss4 is very good. So good that I prefer that over TAA. The slurrish digits I can live with that, getting almost 20fps more.

Good to hear you are continuing to get smooth VR without having to Alt Tab.
My system continues to frustrate me in that when using Alt Tab things are silky smooth (locked half frame rate), otherwise not. I am on a SteamVR Beta with my Bigscreen Beyond so I might try reverting to an earlier non Beta release to see if that has any impact.
My Hotas setup is a little limited plus my keyboard and Voice Attack software will not operate when the Alt Tab ‘sticking plaster’ is in operation. I am therefore contemplating picking up some Steam light house 2.0 compatible hand controllers to enable me to interact with the cockpit and some in-simulator commands. So frustrating 
Edit: It seems that reverting back to SteamVR v2.12.14 might just have cured the issue. Further testing required though
