First up, I wouldn’t consider any of this an argument it’s just a discussion so you have no worries there from my side. We don’t have to agree but it’s useful sometimes to hear alternative views to one’s own.
Unfortunately this is not as simple as drag and drop. Some instruments perhaps could be but that would be limited to the most basic ones and they are the quickest to do anyhow. Creating instruments is not for everyone just like folks that develop aircraft or scenery for this sim, you need a certain skill set and yes patience so because everyone can’t do it does not make it cumbersome or particularly difficult. I’m not sure how small a pool of people you believe have made instruments for the store but it’s perhaps more than you perceive.
Indeed the default could be that every community instrument is open for modification and re-distribution because of the type of licence you would have to agree to but as of yet there is nothing like this and therefore we have to respect the original authors work. I think personally I’d like a choice given to the author so they can choose how to allow use. I was not implying you did not show respect it was more of a general point suggesting that we all need to accept the current situation. This could be introduced but there would still be the legacy issue of the 1000+ instruments that are already in there. Some of the authors are not even contactable now so they would need to take a default position for all of those if everything was to be categorised so it was clear for everyone. Again these things have been put forward before but things remain the same.
