I know that to pop out an instrument you hold down the right alt key and hover the curser over the selected instrument, but I cannot find any instrument on any panel that allows this. The cursor is supposed to turn to a plus sign, but it never occurs. Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong? Thanks!
It only works for glass cockpit instruments - GNS 540 / 430, G1000, etc where the screens have a digital display. It doesn’t work for steam gauges and other instruments.
I can’t get it to work with the 430 / 530 which is strange because I saw a WIP preview video for the overhaul of mentioned avionics and they popped it out.
This is a new one for me. Never heard of people not being able to pop out instruments before. I’ve been using this feature of the sim since launch. It does cause some performance issues (loss when instruments are popped out), but haven’t heard of anyone not being able to pop them out at all.
You’re holding down the right alt key when clicking on them? Has to be the right alt. Left alt won’t work.
Yeah, I just tried the G1000 and it works, tried the GNS 430 and it doesn’t.
What plane are you trying it in?
Tried the PC-6 and CAP-10.
I’ve not tried those 2 planes, so perhaps it’s a limitation or bug in those planes. I know it works fine in other planes that use the GNS units.
Are you using the default 530/430 or the Pimarc mod?
May want to give the mod a try, or if you are using it, ensure its updated.
While I agree that anyone using the GNS SHOULS be using that mod, that shouldn’t make a difference. If the window can’t be popped out with the default, it likely won’t work with the mod either.
There are a few aftermarket planes where certain instruments in default planes (screens on the KAP140 or backup flight display for example) can’t be popped out, even though they’re using default Asobo products which can be popped out in other planes. The popout functionality has to be implemented in the plane’s code. Perhaps they didn’t implement it in these 2 particular planes.
Could very well be, but worth a try / check.
I couldn’t get it to pop out or any button to press in the VC until I updated as the previous version wouldn’t work with SU8 when it was launched.

This is just an odd problem. In the nearly 20-ish months since the sim has been released, this is the first I hear of this issue.
OP, if you want to rule out an issue with those two planes specifically, if you have the premium deluxe version, jump in the C172 Steam and try and pop out the 530/430.

Tried this and no joy…I noticed that my mouse will not interact with any of the controls on the panel either. Maybe a mouse setting problem?
