First of all, I have to say that I am incredibly impressed by the effort and technical know-how that some people here invest in their cockpits. It really is absolutely amazing.
This is my FlightSim Setup. Nothing special. My goal is, I want to be able to operate any aircraft with the setup. For example, I can control combat jets and helicopters with the HOTAS, the Bravo Throttle contributes a few things like mixture control, rotor brakes on the helicopter or any spoilers or something like that, general aviation planes with the Alpha and Bravo, larger jets with the stick and the Bravo, etc.
As you can see, I am only using VR (yet its a HP reverb G2 but there will come a pimax crystal lite thanks to microsoft cancelling the mixed reality portal. Thanks alot for that, microsoft!
It’s nice to see that for so many people the FlighSim (whichever one) is more of a way of life than just a simple computer game, so much that entire rooms in the house are dedicated to it.
But that brings me to a very pressing question:
I’m absolutely nerdy and engineer enough, and especially tinkering enough, that I’ve often considered building something like this myself. This is only a little part of what happens behind the sim controllers:
But if you now after a couple of years are ready building a Cessna Citation setup for instance with all the bells and whistles and then decide to fly a helicopter. What then?
I have the WW FCU, thinking of getting the EFIS and with Mobiflight it could be used on non-Airbus.
Do you think the EFIS is worth getting?. I agree the WW MCDU will be a game changer.
I’m running 3 x 24in monitors for the cockpit. I really love the wide peripheral vision of the horizon when flying.
My other hobby is sailing and you get quite used to a rolling horizon as wind gusts hit the sail; plus you constantly look around for other boats, and wind gust rippling the water. I find single, narrow monitors wreck my spatial awareness
But my 1080TI and old Xeon cpu is struggling to get 20fps in XPlane, less in FS but on low settings its ok.
I am not an IRL pilot and I fly exclusively A320 Fenix because I want to learn everything I can.
I find WW FCU an excellent product especially in the quality/price ratio.
When I bought the two EFIS, I thought of installing only the left one due to space problems, then I saw that I could install both so I completed the FCU.
I certainly use the left one more but I modified the BARO function in Mobiflight so that I can use the left or right BARO indifferently and this is a convenience
Let’s say it’s a nice “toy” and if you don’t have wallet problems it’s worth buying both, they are also very pleasing to the eyes.

I have three but one broke after a couple of years.
They can be managed with Spad.Next and the projected image can be chosen from the default ones or you can find customized ones for a fee on the Internet.
Unfortunately for the Fenix there is nothing compatible, in fact as you can see in the photo above of my cockpit, the PFD shows the Attitude Indicator tilted to the right because the Fenix one is not detected correctly.
Had a bit of sqeeking and clacking noises from some of the motor assemblies, but of them were gone after checking all the screws/bolts that hold the joints.
Took three afternoons to build up and get going. And another 2 weeks to tune in the movement to my liking and get rid of most of the noises. Also had to replace the flimsy USB cables to the controll boxes, as they gave me problems with the connection.
Otherwise I’m happy now with it.
