Pre-release Testing - SU7 Update Public Flight - now also for Steam Users

Hello everyone,

We are pleased to announce that Steam users now also have access to the ongoing pre-release test for the Sim Update VII Update build of Microsoft Flight Simulator. All players (MS Store, Xbox, and Steam) may now participate in the optional testing of this upcoming build to help the dev team identify and resolve issues. Please note that Steam may not always be supported for pre-release testing, and future beta builds may not be available for Steam users.

Please be aware that participating in this flight comes with installation and update risks. If you have MSFS content installed completely on a custom path, you will have a much lower chance that a full re-install will be necessary when the update is officially released. However, if your sim content is installed in the default path selected by the in game content manager, you may have to reinstall the whole sim when moving from the test build to the public build. We recommend that those who wish to test with us ensure your sim content is located in a custom path before joining the flight to avoid full reinstallations in the future (Details on how to do this can be found here: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/how-to-change-the-installation-path-of-installed-packages-inc-community-folder/471682). The best set up would be for your store app to live on the default C: drive and sim content on a custom drive.

If you own Microsoft Flight Simulator through Steam and wish to participate in the pre-release test, you can install the beta version by following these instructions:

  1. Open your Steam Library
  2. Right-click Microsoft Flight Simulator
  3. Click “Properties”
  4. Click “Betas”
  5. Select “sim_update_vii_update – Sim Update VII”

If you would like to exit the pre-release test before it ends and revert back to the live build, follow these instructions:

  1. Open your Steam Library
  2. Right-click Microsoft Flight Simulator
  3. Click “Properties”
  4. Click “Betas”
  5. Select “None”

For MS Store and Xbox players who wish to participate in the pre-release test, please follow the instructions described here.

To report issues and submit other feedback about the new build, please use the dedicated Pre-release Testing section of the forum.

Thanks,

MSFS Team
