Private Charter Bad Airports or Runway Matchups

# ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
Many missions have really bad setups and matches for planes. I’ve been grinding towards the private charter and VIP charter specializations and I’m consistently taking on missions in the Cirrus Vision Jet where I’m flying to airports with runways the size of a city block and approach angles down the side of a mountain doing a forward dive of 15-25 degrees. Very specifically my most recent mission which prompted this post in a charter flight to Megeve Airport, tasked to land on runway 33 which starts at the bottom of a mountain. I may be a bad pilot, but there is zero chance this is a level 1 mission or a realistic mission whatsoever. The only way to not destroy the plane was to loop around and land from the opposite direction. Not that it particularly matter because skipping to the next phase of the flight after reaching FL230 ended up spawning me at FL70 and directly into the side of a mountain(which I miraculously recovered from).

Anyways, I digress. These randomly generated missions are HORRIBLE and need corrected for the plane and runway distance. I landed this plane successfully going the opposite direction with about 20 yards to spare touching down the moment the runway started. That is a very, very small window for errors and at the very least, not a 1 star mission.

# FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
Virtually every Employee VIP Charter mission has some variation of the issues stated above(too small of runway, too steep forced descents or wrong runway numbers.

  1. Just play VIP charter missions.

Idk if this a bug or just part of simulation. There are lots of nonsense jobs due to Airframe, Location, Payload, Weather, Time, etc… A pilot should be looking at these things prior to accepting the job - a big part of the game aspect.

That said, I’ve done some VIP Airline Charters, VIP Charters including freelance (im lv113 and done all certs and have two companies). I’ve not had any issues with too short of runways, descents followed the airports procedures for IFR and all the runway numbers in the tablet, avionics and runway matched.

Do you have media to show us your bug?

So far I’ve got SF50… landing @LFHM, a 2180x94ft runways. Operating limitations for the SF50 type include a maximum operating speed (VMO) and Mach number (MMO) of 250 kt. indicated airspeed (KIAS) and 0.53 Mach, respectively, while the maximum operating altitude is either 28,000 ft. and 31,000 ft. Cirrus promotes the Vision Jet as having a takeoff distance of 2,036 ft.—as well as a takeoff distance over a 50-ft. obstacle of 3,192 ft.—a landing groundroll of 1,628 ft. and a maximum cruise speed of 311-kt. true airspeed (KTAS). So it all checks out here until you start adding factors against skill.

I actually did that mission in the Bonanza on the same runway. Is it hard? Yes but not impossible.

I had this problem too, mainly with runaways near Europe alps / mountains.

Completely agree. Just a heads up, I have a related wishlist going, requesting to bring back the world hub.

Within that, I address the need to flag airports and even parking spots for certain types of operations. This would ostensibly reduce the poor matching of missions to airports, if implemented correctly.

Sorry for the late response to your very thorough and reasonable response. When I posted this 20 days ago, I was disillusioned that this was a well made game that launched in a good state despite server capacity issues for the first day or two.

I have realized that this game launched months ahead of a realistic release window for one reason or another and that it’s systems were, at best, a shot in the dark.

I was also frustrated with the comment: “A pilot should be looking at these things prior to accepting the job. A big part of the game aspect”. Mostly due to ego. I’m not a pilot, probably will never be one. This game puts an emphasis on simulation but teaches me nothing and holds my hand as much as possible while not having functioning systems in place to enforce that hand-holding. It was also frustrating that they held my hand so much that I would have expected them to recognize the plane is not suitable for this job. Why must I go check both airports runways and locations for an employee job with a predetermined flight plan and plane?

Almost a month later, having played after work a few hours pretty much every day on autopilot reading more and studying the entire time about aviation, procedures, plane operations etc… I get what you’re saying and I agree. I’m thororughly enjoying the full-sim attitude and management of my flights, from safety and mechanics, to procedure and technique while flying. Learning more every day.

I still do however see this as a “bug” as far as employee/predetermined missions go. Everything is AI generated and the parameters for those missions are weak or non-existent, along with often times really non-sensical flight plans and ATC errors that can only sometimes be circumnavigated.

Anyways, thanks for the thorough reply. The comment mentioned above that frustrated me, and your comment as a whole, was likely a kick in the butt I only just realized that motivated me to learn more and study. So I’ll ask for one more favor. You mention v speeds, takeoff and landing distances and even distance over obstacles at specific lengths. Apart from hard googling and digging through extensive manuals, are you using anything specific to find this information? Or have any tips on how to better find that information? The in-game EFB and Simbrief have been helpful for flight plans, charts, courses and frequencies for navigation but I’ve been trying to find “my plane” that I want to main and I’ve been struggling to find concrete resources to learn more about planes without becoming a mechanical or electrical engineer.

Open up ATC menu and select the opposite runway. The mission doesn’t prohibit you from doing that, it only penalizes you when you land on the non assigned runway. I had a mission where final was inside the mountain, selected the opposite runway and landed with 3kt of tailwind. Still better than 20 degree dive on final

Bingo. On one hand, with what we’ve been given, we should be checking. On the other, the sim shouldn’t even be suggesting many of them. But since they do, they should be providing solid information, at minimum, or better, a full suite of planning tools and the education how to use them. They’re not, and it’s a big, frustrating mess for everyone. It’s like you’re working with the world’s worst dispatcher: tells you the where and when of the flight, and basically nothing about the weather or the airport, but doesn’t even mention they’re not doing that.

In fact, even if you do know how to do all the preflight planning, the system is so broken, that if you get 30 minutes into planning and decide to reject because it’s not going to work, it doesn’t even have a common time base with which to start over - you’re basically starting from scratch at a different time and place.

Still an issue in September 2025. I shouldn’t be trying to land a Cirrus Vision Jet in some dudes paved driveway…

I just started my VIP company and I have exact same problems in October 2025.

I lost count how many missions I failed due crashes while trying to land. I mean I’m not that good yet with the sim, I get that. But why the game force me to land at the bottom of the mountain where I don’t have enough distance to descent.

Even if I somehow lose the altitude the speed is too high and I just smash into runaway leaving me with bad rating due unhappy passengers.

I keep grinding the career because I set goal for myself to start airliner company and buy Boeing 737. But as soon as I’m gonna buy it I’m leaving this mode till they fix it because its more annoying for me than fun.
