The problem with the simulator is that your trying to build a house while moving in the furniture. What I’m saying maybe the simulator should have been build without third party addons. This way the only variable would have been hardware.
And put lots of people out of work potentially especially if more and more transfer over to msfs.
Your also not forced to use external 3rd party content.
Not to mention with a game as popular as this, someone was going to find a way to make an add on anyway. Pretty much all popular games for PC have mods or add-ons, whether or not their developers officially allow them.
My perspective is that the third party ecosystem is one of the defining characteristics of a true PC (or XBox) based flight simulator.
Whether you think this has yet reached the status as a “true simulator” or not, the lack of third party involvement would severely detract from its aspirations and potential.
And as already stated, you dont need to install/ use third party software if you dont want to…
Cheers
I love the 3rd party ecosystem. I do agree that I wish we didn’t need them for certain things that should be included in the base sim, such as hiding the toolbar, basic pushback, functional avionics, correct flight dynamics, auto save, reply, etc. But I’m eternity grateful that we have the option to get this stuff from an outside source.
The sim was built as a platform. Jorg has said that the entire business model was designed for 3rd party developers to make a living. They have directly said that they don’t want to make things like the default aircraft too good, where they’d take business away from 3rd party developers.
I don’t agree with this philosophy, but I understand it
