I downloaded the game on Steam. It did the Steam installation and then I launched the game. I was in the middle of the download and installation that happens inside the game under the content manager. At that time the power went out in my home. When I got everything back on and launched the flight sim it came on and said “checking for updates.” After it does that it says “welcome, set up your experience” at the top but I cannot do anything and I cannot get it to restart the installation I had going before the power crash. I have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times but I cannot figure out how to fix this.
Try to start it again, if it becomes stuck close the sim and restart the sim. See if that helps

ok, when you uninstalled, did you clean/delete every file? Most of the time theres a file left behind and may cause reinstallation issues
Where would extra files be? I deleted everything that I could find under “MicrosoftFlightSimulator”
refer to the article by the devs on how to uninstall, if I remembered I would tell you
but before that have you tried running the sim as administrator?
I have not tried to run as admin yet, but I followed to devs exact steps to uninstall all the files when you download through steam so i’m not sure why that didn’t fix the problem
Ok try to run as administrator. If that doesn’t work then the next best thing is to contact support as they would have a better understanding of what’s going on.
Did you also try to restart your PC?
Yes I did restart the PC. I have sent in a request for help through the customer support site. Any idea how long they take to respond?
I’m not sure as I haven’t seeked their assistance for any issues post release. Maybe someone else can chime in?

Maybe a stupid question but how do I run it as admin?
I searched " Microsoft Flight Simulator" in my windows search bar and when I right clicked on it there is no option to run as administrator
no dont worry not a stupid question. Hover over the simulator app and right click then you’ll see run as administrator
I left and right clicked lol and I don’t see it anywhere.

Make sure you hover the sim app from the start menu
Like on other apps the option is there to run as administrator but not on my Flight Sim app. I used my Windows Search Bar.
hmmm there’s some serious wackiness going on with your PC lol. I’m guessing that means the installation isn’t complete therefore it couldn’t identify run as administrator. That power going out during installation really screwed things up
