I’ve had a lot of problems trying to run MSFS2020, not helped by the 48 hour download time with my slow internet connection. After the first download, it didn’t run at all, after the second it worked for an evening, but not after that, after the third download it worked for a couple of days and then stopped. It would either hang at the loading screen after checking for updates but before the main menu, or crash at the same point. As a last resort I deleted everything in the users>name>AppData>Local>Packages>Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe>LocalCache folder, with the exception of the UserCfg.opt file, and, after pointing it to my installation folder, it actually worked! Much to my surprise. Worth trying if you’ve run out of ideas.
