I have a Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2 Joystick. It worked fine with MS FlightsimX. And Flightsim 2020 finds it and I can set sensitivity, assign the buttons and so. But when starting an aircraft the joystick just won´t do much effect at all. Not increasing power, no rudder och elevator reactions. The flaps and trim do some work but soon retract to 10 degrees respectivley 11%. (Landing gear seem to work as expected though). Guess I have missed some general settings?
Hello @ArdentKnot76084,

Now, after testing everythiung -including reinstalling MSF2020, I have realised the problem is not mainly related to the joystick. Running the game with the stick unplugged, with just keyborad buttons, I have the same problems. Flaps refuse to stay in position, always goes back, not to neutral but to first stage down. Attitude trim acts in similar way. F3 increases power but power goes back to idle after a few seconds. And the same happends when I try to manage the controls with the mouse.
Anyone who has an idea of what might be wrong?
Hmmm, first not sure MSFS has configuration for that old JS. If it’s the one which vibrates, etc., last I heard, that feature is NOT enabled, but could have changed. If another newer one works, then it’s getting long in the tooth, and may be just failing.
First time I have ever experienced a mouse/trackball just quitting but had that happen today on other PC. She was cursing along, and it just quit, first check battery, nope, then cleaned it, nope DOA. That is a first for me.
Force feedback is not implemented in MSFS but the joystick itself works perfectly in the sim without FFB.
I started 2020 after the August launch using my old non-FF Sidewinder, which had served me well through previous FS versions. The drift had gotten bad enough on several axes that it needed replacement soon. However, it did respond correctly to all the button binds and aileron, rudder inputs.
If you only have KB/Mouse and you’re still getting ghost inputs, something else is working against you. Did you empty your Community folder and did you try temporarily using another KB/M combo?
Sorry. Been off for a while. Thank you all for your efforts to help me, seems like I’ve solved it now. Came to the conclusion that the stick had a play in the roll axis, making airplanes to roll to the right violently as you only touched it in that direction. A bit worn out obviously. But this was hard to understand as it works with no such problems when using Flightsim X!!! Dissassembled the stick unit, putted on some duct tape on a certain point to reduce the play, recalibrated, hitted the MSFS 2020, fine tuned the roll settings and voila, the roll worked just smoothly in both directions!
If thinking about new stuff, Check out Virpil devices, excellent. Great video comparing Virpil and another product/vendor on YouTube. Search for Virpil comparisions and you should get it. I like the Virpil, but not cheap by any means. Happy Flying.
Thanx for your suggestion. I’ll probably look for a yoke system if I decide to replace the stick ( which works very well right now…)
