Problems with the default A320 Model

Hello, i am Pleasure 3d Artist and Texture Artist from FlyByWire who works on improving the default A320.
I want to show you some serious problems with the Model/Texture from the Default A320 which in some cases we fixed, and other cases we cannot currently fix because we cannot change the model yet… and frankly… i have to say i personally have no faith in Asobo contacting us at all… fyi we never recieved any communication whatsoever. (Hopefully i am wrong) Would be nice to get a simple hello… so an actual communication.I want to stress though this is not in any way meant to be a Post about Asobo communication, but rather hopefully will make them fix some of the things. Feel free to post this on Zendesk, because i have no idea how that weird zendesk thing works… so i really can’t be bothered.

Lets start with some things we actually fixed or added at FlybyWire:

Missing Limit Speed Plaque:

Missing details on Chronometer:

Spelling Error on Rain Repellent:

Missing Sticker on High Voltage Warning:

Now there are some things we cannot currently Fix, because we do not have the ability yet to change the model ourselves, we are working on an importer/exporter for blender, but it takes time… and with no help from asobo, it will take longer. That is just the way it is! But we will continue to work on it !

Spelling Error on DCDU:

This should say PGE
Because it uses the same UV Position as the AIR"PO"RT on the MCDU if we change it to PGE the AIRPORT would become AIR"PG"RT. Hope that makes sense to you

Flickering on some decals:
image
This one and some more are flickering because of Z Fighting, basically the decal mesh is inside the other decal mesh, and this causes flickering:

until we can change the model we cannot fix this.

So the point of this post is to let asobo know to fix those things… or let us fix it for them… without their help and communication… this will take longer and longer… and it is frustrating.

I am not the official voice for FBW. But only a 3d artist that is frustrated he cannot fix those things for you guys :frowning:

The best way to alert Asobo to specific issues and get them fixed is to file bug reports on Zendesk. It’s fairly simple to do, simply click on this link: https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360000120251, and fill out the info required.

My link should have selected the correct category, but if not select ‘report a small bug or glitch’.

i do understand, but frankly… way too much stuff to fill out for my taste. This is their forum and they should look at it. Like i said everyone is free to post it to zendesk, but i am busy working on the mod itself. How some of the things made it through QA is beyond me. We fixed all but two of those things anyway. Hey Maybe it would be a good idea of asobo just contacting us ? huh  I mean we are fixing their stuff for free afterall

I know i know… gonna drop it dont worry, but yeah someone else can post it to zendesk… i just wanted to show people the things we found

They do, but when you consider that there is between ~2,000 and 6,200 posts a day, that is a lot to keep track of, and it’s next to impossible to gaurntee every single thing has been seen. That’s why they ask for official bug reports to be filed through Zendesk.

I understand your pain there, it’s gotten way longer since I last looked.

The attention to detail of the mod you are working in is amazing, and I did notice some of the subtle changes you just mentioned, keep up the good work!

I just hope Asobo establishes a line of communication with you, FBW mod is the only thing making this game worth playing for airline enthusiasts, it makes no sense they are not providing you with all the support you need.

If you move this to the self service section it can at least be voted on as a priority issue if you don’t want to post on Zendesk.

I’ll try remember to post it on there myself for you later today also.

Great work on the A320!

Hallo Zusammen
Off Topic
Sorry, from the moderator team you mainly hear 2 sentences: contact Zendesk and write the post in English.
I would like to read once: I will take care of it and will pass it on.

The FBW team does a great job and needs all the support microsoft can.

we are actually working on the assumption we will get no support whatsoever, and we get support by other community members and other developers like navigraph. Yeah i would love a line of communication between asobo and us, maybe a discord or email adress where we can stay in contact with them. But i have to be honest… so far there has been nothing.

We will continue the same as always !

PS. I think the moderators are doing a good job, they have the things they have to do and say and their procedures. Other moderators would have locked this thread and deleted it and whatnot.

There’s a reason we tell people to file bug reports on Zendesk. It is because it is the most efficient tool we have to report bugs, and the only way to guarantee a bug report will be reviewed, moved to the internal QA tool and triaged.

Part of our job is to enforce the Code of Conduct which is set out by Microsoft (and not the moderator team). If people followed the Code of Conduct, we wouldn’t have to remind people about the rules.

We regularly provide extra feedback to the community managers, where possible and appropriate to do so. This morning we discussed five things that we saw over the weekend. We don’t tell forum users about all of our internal conversations, in part because we don’t know what the outcome will be from them.

Jorg Neumann commented on third-party mods in the last Developer Q and A stream, where he specifically talked about waiting for approval from Airbus.

just so you know i appreciate your job, i ran a discord with a lot of people once and i know you cant please everyone. As i said i know you have your rules you have to follow. And basically asobo/microsoft is running the show.

Keep up the good work

i will keep posting stuff i find here

Oh little funny thing btw. The Oct 22nd Developer update, actually shows the modded A320 not the original

you can see it using my improved texture with the air vents on the glareshield

to be fair, that was only about adding the a320 to the store, which is not something that concerns me personally. Getting to start a communication with us does not require airbus approval

I had not noticed that I was too busy being triggered by an A320 at Lukla. Regardless, the mod is coming along nicely, and I have enjoyed using it myself. Thanks for your efforts.

Thanks for the clarification on that, personally I hope it gets added to the store so it’s easier to keep up to date  - Sadly I have no additional information on their interaction with third-party devs (both flybywire and others).

i know  we will still try our best to get in touch with them at some point, but it wont stop us either way, we will find a way doing it without as well.

On the High Voltage Warning Sticker shouldn’t the spelling be Lighting and not Lightning? Looks as if both of ya’ll got that wrong.

nice find, will check if we can edit that, if its again with used uv, we cannot. I dont know if we looked at that already

as many of you know in the last Q&A we finally got an email address to get in contact with ms / asobo. Which we are now doing. So thank you everyone for your support… That made us visible to MS / Asobo
