Proper group radio communications in multiplayer

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is a popular flight simulation game that has received praise for its impressive multiplayer functionality. However, the game’s current air traffic control (ATC) system has been criticized for being inadequate, particularly when it comes to pilot-to-pilot communication. To address this issue, we propose that Microsoft or a third-party developer create a new feature that enables pilots to communicate with each other using local airport frequencies or a universal frequency like 123.45 or 121.5.

Currently, the multiplayer function allows players to see each other’s names, altitude, and aircraft type, but they cannot communicate directly with each other. However, in real-world aviation, pilots communicate with each other on CTAF or tower frequencies to communicate their intentions and ensure safe flight operations. Adding this feature to MSFS would make the game more realistic and enhance the multiplayer experience.

To prevent any unwanted or harassing communication, we recommend adding a muting or blocking option that would enable pilots to turn off communication from specific individuals. This feature would allow players to maintain control over their in-game interactions and ensure a positive multiplayer experience for all players.

In summary, enhancing pilot-to-pilot communication in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 would significantly improve the game’s realism and safety. By providing a way for pilots to communicate their intentions more effectively and offering the option to mute or block certain individuals, we can create a more enjoyable and inclusive multiplayer experience.
