Proton Drive vs. OneDrive - Proton wins by a mile

One of the things that frustrated me immensely with my last system was that Win11 installation practically forces you to logon with a Microsoft account. But I don’t really want to discuss that aspect - I know there are ways around it. I found a much easier way with a debloated Windows installer, which completely bypasses the Microsoft account setup. (You can always add one later if for some reason you want to.)

The other thing that really bothered me was how klugy Microsoft OneDrive is, and how I found Proton Drive, which is vastly superior in every way. You install it on every computer you want to share files between (up to 5 if I’m not mistaken) and simply tell it which folders on each computer to sync to. Save a file to a folder (like Pictures) on the local computer, and it’s instantly synced in the background. No need to save it to a special OneDrive folder.

Then on the other computers you have a simple Proton Drive folder that lets you access the synced folders in the cloud, downloading them as needed. All files are encrypted in the cloud.

Highly recommended.
