PSA: Disable all traffic to prevent instrument, avionic, autopilot and other issues [UPDATED]

This is obviously a serious bug, however it seems not to be related to a single parameter only, but rather some parameters enhance the probability of problems. It seems the chances rise when the simulator is busy with heave scenery and traffic. Maybe too many concurrent events to handle?
I wonder how it is related to our machines power. I have got a quite new PC, not high end, but relatively strong (Ryzen 3800X, RTX 2070S 3440x1440, 32G RAM). This is why my sim is still flyable with traffic set to 100, and maybe this is why I cannot see blackouts very often.
So, is there any relationship between PCs and this issue?

Both the A320 & the C172 have a model/texture setup for AI traffic & in aircraft.cfg isAirTraffic = 1 for these folders. None of the other aircraft have this & most of the AI traffic comes from the generic aircraft model folders. I’m going to try setting isAirTraffic = 0 for the the A320 & C172 and running with all AI traffic on to see if this makes a difference.

Hi where do you get the A320 mod please?

Something very odd going on.

So I reset all my General and Assistance settings. Put Ground Aircraft Density and AI Traffic all to 100. Heathrow to Charles de Gaulle in A320 and all seemed to be going fine, incredibly.

Thought it might’ve had something to do with Terrain LOD resetting to 100 (amount of ground aircraft loading reduced?) and Generic AI Aircraft resetting to On (already had been discussed in the other thread but that wasn’t testing in connection with anything).

Then I had to restart the flight midway due to other stuff. The aircraft was broken from the start. I have no idea what could’ve changed from restarting the flight. Nothing had been touched.

The amount of errors and warnings you get in the Dev Console just from running this sim in general is kind of crazy though, none of it seems to run smoothly, not even in the menus, there’s always something somewhere not loading correctly.

Edit: Still not working. Baffling. For that one flight after the reset everything seemed fine. Tons of aircraft at the airport and nothing breaking.Perhaps there’s a file that’s getting set to read only or something.

Edit 2: Checked the settings files, nothing set to read-only.

Edit 3: Tried resetting everything again but to no avail. I think it’s just a case of this sim being utterly broken right now. Only way to fly (at least for me and some others) is to have 0 traffic, as originally stated. Any suggestions welcome.

I also changed my ai back to generic and put back the ground traffic to 50%… all is well for 6hrs…

I am not sure what has changed on mine but initially my AP pane on the A320l was not illuminated, I left it few days and then had another go and the AP panel suddenly seemed to work again, I did a short test flight and it seemed like I may have got away with the avionics bug, but as I was on finals, bye bye PFD and AP display, was able to get the PFD up again by turning brightness knob but seems to be no way of getting the AP back. Last night I did a flight from Schipol to Dusseldorf, with just ground traffic set to 0 and there were no issues, but that maybe because there was not much other traffic around at the time, so next I will try a more busier airport and see what happens.
But thank you anyway for the temporary solution as at least I was able to do 1 flight with no issues!

Thanks pal

So now we have to fly with social distancing to not corrupt our plane?

Flybywire saying there new update has a fixšŸ‘!

I’ve tweeted them asking if they know what caused it, would be great to be able to get to the root of all of this.

Yes, same here on Approach twice yesterday screen went blank. turned up the brightness and all ok. I wish they would sort the A320N daily now things are getting worse. I dont know if they are tweaking things behind the scenes but having had no real issues up until the last update, the plane is slowly becoming worse.

AP issues, Rocketing off like the space shuttle just after departure. weired sudden V/S increaeses in alt either way when you try to adjust alt.
I use the Flybywire modded version, but even went back to the default aircraft from Asobo had the same failings are there. so the fault IMO lies with the default aircraft.

Come on MS get it sorted.

Will be interesting to see what they say.

I think a lot of people on here seemed to be on the right path, disabling AI traffic worked for me. Just makes the sim/game abit lifeless.

Pleased we hopefully have a fixšŸ¤žšŸ»!

I can also confirm this has worked with the new Mooney M20. Finally able to complete a flight (115nm) without avionics either failing to power up or shutting down after take off. Interestingly enough, the plane does not seem to sway left and right trying to follow the flight path anymore. Getting ready to try a longer flight.

I turned off all of the AI traffic just flew from KHOU to KCLL using AP and an RNAV approach. At first the AP FLC mode did not work because of over pitching, but once I reached altitude I kicked in ALT mode and everything started to work including descents with VS mode, and the RNAV approach. I’ll try FLC mode again and see if that has settled down.

This was in an SR22 that just started acting up on me this morning.

I’ll run another test with the C172 that has misbehaved on me.

I didn’t notice that in my test, but I wasn’t watching for it. Good to know.

Started a longer flight with the M20. It looks like I misspoke - the swaying is still there. Now I’m not sure if it’s swaying less or is just a placebo effect. Sorry for the false hope :sob:

With all the AI and multiuser traffic turned off, I tested the C172 (G1000). As with the SR22, the FLC mode of the autopilot still does not work. It just seems to overpitch until the plane stalls. The rest of the AP appears to work, though.

It seems to me that Live Weather is also working better. I have realistic wind and weather with this workaround.

Sounds like your 320 has the B737 MAX software installed?

I’ve consistently had problems with screens dimming to black and autopilot randomly turning off during flight in the Cirrus SR22.

After turning all multiplayer, AI, and ground traffic off I was able to complete a full, ground-to-ground, 1.5 hour flight without ANY issues!

Thanks!
