Been waiting for just this discovery.
Restoration.

thermal throttling - CPU and GPU
Page File/ Virtual Memory
SSD Empty Space
Internet Bandwidth

make sure your cooler is …well… cool!
try to make your page file to auto and the empty space in that ssd is more than 1.5 times of total memory.
If your gpu is nivida there is a setting for vsync. change to it adaptive NOT adaptive half refresh. Tripple buffering on and rest all default. negative load bias to allow. in the sim ive kept 60 limit. things are smooth.

I have been 100% sure about page file. I experimented numerous times on and off with 32gb ram and 16gb as well

when i used performance ram 16gb at 2400 XMP with page file on -almost no crashes
when i used 2666 stock oem sticks no crashes. ZERO!
when i used high speed 3000 ram, the sim crashed (16gb & 32gb With and W/Out page file)
OEM sticks of 32gb 2666 with XMP off and page file on - dead stable.

hope this helps a few people at least
i have yet to experiment with the LOD.
stability is my goal for the moment.

so should i turn XMP off pagefile is at auto should i manualy set it ?
XMP at 2400Mhz

i have about 114GB empty on my SSD (that i have pagefile on on it)
it’s the OS and FS SSD
the content folder is on another SSD and pagefile is turnd off on it

i didnt try fixed page file tweak that we used to do on window xp days (4096 to 4096 fixed)

i left it auto managed by windows 10.

i kept trying to fly and kept crashing. this happened a month back around mid july. finally hours and hours later i found out 16gb with virtual memory ON stopped the crashes

try to leave it at auto and also the space needed in that ssd partition too should be adequate right?

try emperimenting once… you may be suprised

i dont play with ram speeds. sorry.

are you using performance ram ? i wont mention brands. if so… are you using its jedec spec speeds or xmp?

i think it’s performance ram, it says 2400mhz on the box and i enebeld XMP in the bios

ok… if i may suggest try thease sir

  1. xmp off and set speed to its default. anything is okay 2133, 2400 2666
  2. your ssd space is fine
  3. tripple buffering on vync parametres to ON

ā€œtripple buffering on vync parametres to ONā€ this is on nvidia control panel correct ?

yes. on nvidia leave everything defaullt.
then load bias to allow
tripple buffering to ON
vync to ON . adaptive

thats it on the nvidia
(ive experimented with all other paremtres one by one and almost no differences. those settings i mentioned above made differences)

the picture is correct ?
and the sim vsync turn it off ?

yes its correct. there the vertical sync you can try On Adaptive instead of just ON

sim vsync on limited to 60

so basically whats the nvidia doing is saying ill help with tripple buffering and ill adapt to 60 frames uop down a bit kinda like cruise control in a car

what the sim is saying ok bro… ill limit to 60 too

basically both are working in tandem and not disagreeing

i don’t have adaptive

oh… try the fast option sir… u dont have half adaptive and adaptive. what grapics card youre using?

1070Ti but i have G-Sync on
dose it have anything to do with this ?

probably. very likely. 99% sure gync is working.

im 100% sure 1070 and 1070ti would have those settings if normal monitor.

also. i have experimented with FAST mode of vsync and it works nearly as good as adaptive

with that gpu and a decent cpu, 32gb or even 16gb of ram you should be crash free

got it
thank you very much

Hi, I’ve tested over NYC and didnt experience any CTD’s
Also made for some good comparsions with distant photogrammetery:
NYC External at LOD 2 - https://ibb.co/TrvLTPc
NYC External at LOD 4 - https://ibb.co/y64zYKq

Zoomed view, see how the bridge is rendered at greater detail further out aswell as additonal buildings:

Interesting behavior. I increase LOD to 4 and this drags me into a cpu bottleneck on my 8600k (at 4.6).
Frames drops from about 55fps to 35fps with some heavy drops down till 11 fps when loading/streaming/processing Chicago suburban areas with a lot of geometry. Look is improved remarkable.

Surprizingly the gpu load also drops from around 98% at LOD 2 to 70% avg. down to under 50% when waiting for data from the cpu and dawdling at 20fps.

System:
8600k
32GB/3000
Titan XP at 3440x1440
