[PSA] XPForce force-feedback will be coming to FS2020!

I don’t know why my Yoke alway randomly moving Y axis (Elevator Trim) when MSFS is loading. Until Engine Started. Do you make Option to disable/enable FFB until Full Engine stated?

Hello everyone, especially @jimkeir .
I want to thank you first of all for XPForce, it is a sim experience on another level.

I have had the FS2020 now for 4 days (PC) and after all setups, settings, getting used to the interface, I finally had time to do some flights.

Unfortunetaly, I noticed something which I don’t know where to locate to and what to look for so you guys are basically my last hope.

My setup is the following:

  • ASUS TUF15, i7 11-800h, GPU 3060 6GB, 24 GB RAM, SSD, Win10
  • Microsoft ForceFeedback 2 Joystick
  • Thrustmaster T Rudders
  • Microsoft Store MSFS2020 version

My first and simple question is:

  • Is it only me thinking, that FS2020 loading times (startup) are taking longer with the XPF launcher? I might be wrong, I thought I’d just ask.

My second question is pretty complex and rest assured, I am about to delete everything and give up. I am used to bugs, issues, failures and think thats part of the game, the more realistic we want it, the more complicated it can get but now I am completely clueless.

My computer is brand new and I bought my above shown setup 4 days ago, the same day. So everything is unused but the FF2 joystick, a friend of mine sold it to me. I tested it before buying and it was fine.

Unfortunately I am unable to tell whether this is a XPForce issue or some other issue but I havent really tried it before installing XPForce and cant say how it has been before.

See the following video to understand my issue:
Its on vimeo dot com slash 589572065

As you can see, the rudders are kinda “flicking” whenever I touch them. If I keep them untouched in neutral, nothing is flicking and moving around, but whenever I am applying the rudders, this comes up, which means I can control the airplane on ground to a certain level. If I go full left or full right, it falls back into neutral which causes the airplane to take a wider curve then I planned.

At first I thought, there was something wrong with the rudders so I decided to disconnect my USB rudders, assign the left and right axis to the joystick, but see what happens whenever I turn left or right:
the same issue

To be sure, I downloaded the Thrustmaster software and calibration tool and everything looks good to me, no flicking.

I tried several airplanes and had always the same issue: I go slightly right, the airplanes goes its way, I stay with the input in that position and it heads back to neutral. The same when I go left. When I go full left or full right, it usually moves a bit until I go back to neutral and go slowly left or slowly right.

So I excluded the new rudder being the issue and I excluded the joystick being the issue. The movements in the above video remind me a bit of a vibrating rudder, these nonlinear vibrations I am used to when I fly some turbulent areas and feel the force feedback.

So I thought it might be XPForce Pro and started the FS2020 without XPF and the issue happened to be exactly the same.

I also tried several settings in the control options menu and played with sensitivy etc. but I have no clue what this is about and how I can fix it.

Maybe you guys know what I am doing wrong? I could describe it like “Theres no ongoing and linear input”

Thanks for you guys help

I have installed XPForce with MSFS 2020 and my FFB2, and like it.

As I have a rather old computer I cannot fly with Ultra settings and sometimes go back to FSX and all my familiar aircraft. So I thought I’d try XPForce with FSX.

I downloaded the demo but when FSX starts up, there is an error message : “Couldn’t create a force feedback effect for the yoke or stick. Some forces will not work.” In FSX I see the AddOn tab with an item for XPForce, but clicking that menu item does not bring up the settings, in fact it does not bring up anything! Selecting XPForce seems to be ignored. Everything else is working OK.

I reinstalled XPF for FSX, but no change.

I wrote to Jim via his web page but to date have not received any reply. Now that I think about it, I also asked him about the “significant discount” available to an existing XPF customer, but he has not replied to that question either.

So maybe this forum will work better? Any ideas please?

Hey ,im having trouble making the trim behave propely ,it does not move my joystick at all ,tried both with and without the alternative box checked. any ideas ,im lsot at this point ,w8ing reply from support =D

For anyone having trouble with the latest version of FS2020 not starting with XPForce running, I’m aware of the problem and looking into it. If you’re not seeing this, that’s great

Not having any problems here Jim. It keeps getting better.

Hi Jim.

  1. I bought XPForce and I think its good.

  2. Can you add XBOX 360/one controller support?
Controller rumble is gone after SU5.
and even before it was only rolling on the ground and stall. With your software we could have all sort od different rumbles.

I think it will be also great for you financially (MUCH broader market!!!)

  1. Landing forces are weak for some planes (initial force of wheels touching) - I guess it depends on wheel configuration (cessna caravan is OK, Savage cub lands on from wheels, force becomes strong only when tail wheel touches)

  2. Can you improve XPforce to have curves so we can adjust things to our liking

—I guess controller support is most important to me. With some clever placement we can use xbox controller as yoke attachment adding rumble feedback to yokes.

Just to let you know, I’m one of the people with this issue.

I’ve got the Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 stick. If it helps, I’ve noticed the following:

If I start XPForce and the sim with the joystick connected, the sim hangs at the loading screen and is frozen.

BUT

If I disconnect the stick, start XPForce, connect the stick and THEN start the sim, then it launches ok and software runs great.

Hope this helps in solving this issue.

you should if u didnt allredy ,start a separate post with this problem ,i mean saying your last hope for solving a non ffb problem is a guy who makes a ffb app is kinda ridiculous =D dont give up bro =p

Anyone using XPforce have any idea how i can force it to send ffb to a specific device? it tries to send it to all other devices except my ffb stick ,it only works if the only device conected is the stick =/

The huge delay or total failure to start MSFS at all was the main reason I stopped using xpforce, long before SU6. Well, that and what AP kept doing
If you get to the bottom of the problem and release a version that fixes it, please post here so I’ll know to try it again. When it worked it was great!

Hi! The app only works for me if the ffb device is the only one i have plugged in(besides mouse and keyboard) if i have any other device they will be piked up in devices list in xpforce and will default to them over my ffb device, resulting in no forces beeing sent to my ffb device.Again if i leave just the intended device conected ,it will work properly .Any ideas from you guys or from you jimkeir whould be greatly apreciated ,thanx Geo.

selected the desired device via the set master asigment in xpforce ,now ofc i have a diferent problem ,the trim ,no mater if its set on alternative or not ,it just uses both at the same time ,the plane behaves as if you aply normal trim and the joystick behaves as it has alternative trim regardless of setting =p

Forces at take off/landing.

Then entiiiiiiiirrrrre flight no forces…

Would it be possible to add forces during flight? Like:

  1. wind gusts (you have ground acceleration forces many just adding acceleration forces in the air)

  2. high G forces

  3. etc

PS. and please add curves or just editable multipliers so we can adjust things to our lining.

THX!

Hi @jimkeir , I didn’t know that you had a thread here for XPForce…
I have some problem with the plugin, maybe you can help.
First, the settings seem to do nothing. I can even set the force to zero on the sliders, but the effect on the yoke doesn’t change. When I test the yoke with the FFB test program, the setting of the torque indeed works as expected, so it should not be an issue on my yoke.
Also, on ground I get very strong “hits” on both axis, while flying the yoke gets randomly slammed on one side for a moment.
I have also noticed that there is a huge traffic of effect settings on the USB, most of the time with no different parameters from the previous setting.
Is there any way for me to provide you a log of what is happening?

the same with me for some time

And if you do check in Jim, just a heads up as I am migrating to a new PC over the next two weeks or so. Anything I should know? Or is it a simple install with existing user credentials?

Needless to say, I love what you have done and my Logitech G940 loves you even more.

All the best!

I want to install the XPForce software on my new gaming pc, but i get this message during the installation… I dont know, it is a good idea to overwrite this Corsair files. And why is there a conflict? Thanks!

Ooh, errr… That is a ■■■■■■ good question as my new PC is largely an iCue device too.
