Quality difference between default vs payware planes

I agree with op. Yes the aircraft available from the established big developers like aerosoft or just flight are great. But for ALOT of the available aircraft in the markerplace this is not the case.

The default planes being at high quality (looks wise) is no excuse for 3rs party’s to not provide even higher quality. Especially since they ask prices way higher then what the default planes would cost.

Msfs is far more capable of using high quality textures, more polygons and uses great looking shaders. It’s a disgrace what some 3rd party developers come up with, creating planes not even worth the money 15 years back for fsx.

I’ve said it many times before on this forum and i’m gonna say it again: many, many addons are a complete ripoff. But somehow lot’s of people like to be ripped of only to fill their hanger with almost everything they can get their hands on.

Ofcourse everyone can do whatever they like, but as long as this is motivating those companies to keep creating these cr p, they’ll never even try to bump up their quality.

I.m.o. their should be more quality control of what will be in the marketplace and low ratings should be looked at and removed. Especially when the price of the product is not in line with the quality.

Flight simulation is brought to a much wider audience now, and there’s no need to rip everyone off just because some enthousiastic simmer doesn’t care for the quality of the looks and just want’s to buy everything that’s available just for the sake of it.

For example - Piper Arrow is way, way better than Cessna. Piper is not worse in visuals (I would say even better) and have in depth simulation, everything works. In general having “inop” switches etc. in a lot of buttons is way more immersion breaking than some flat textures.
PMDG DC-6 have some smaller issues, but still it detailed and pretty. And there is not any single default plane with the same level of realism/simulation. That’s what matter most.
I’m flying in Ultra in VR (G2, 3090).

I actually agree with you.

Whilst some 3rd parties have made some stunning aircraft, I feel like none are visually quite as good as Asobo’s.

Carenados look quite close.

However, most 3rd party aircraft I’ve used are offering far more complexity and functionality than Asobos.

Completly agree with you on this. Third party developers have to turn it up a notch in the 3D modeling and textures department. The DC-6 is my favorite plane but some of the textures are just plain ugly.

How are comparing the freeware AN-225 vs the payware found in the marketplace?
Same goes for A10 .
Any different to convince me to pay for it ?

I might be alone in this one but i don’t think the default planes look all that good. I think the default cessna 172 cockpit looks pretty ugly. Maybe it’s an artstyle thing?.. as soon as they started to hire well known developers for default add-ons the visual quality went up imho. Compare the V35b legend to the default bonanza.
