QUEST 3 issues

I only get that when I’m using the fov stencil because then you can more easily see the edge of the screen.

I get it when I use ASW force 45 fps enabled in the Oculus Debug Tool. On my system, changing it to ASW force 45 fps disabled makes the artefact disappear.

I just tried VD too, and the little faith I had in it has really shut me up, haha. The stuttering has disappeared. But I feel like the graphics could be better, but I feel like fixing that would be the least complicated thing.

Of course, I experience this too.
Disgusting artifacts in a clear blue sky, when there are no clouds, with ASW active - the cockpit and scenery are clear and sharp.
When ASW is disabled, the artifacts disappear, but I still experience terrible ghosting (blurring of the scene when moving my head).
This is an Oculus software issue, which still doesn’t work well with RTX 4 series cards… (it seems to most often affect people with RTX 4070 Ti Super cards).
So there’s no cure. VD doesn’t change anything. The same problem also affects XP11/12… ;-(

ASW for me gives those sky artifacts as well, but that only happens if it’s a clear blue sky. Otherwise it’s fine and to be honest, I’m not looking at the sky that often for it to be noticable when it’s occuring. For me ASW is worth it for the smoothness factor you can get with high quality graphics.

Agree. Once at altitude and if the sky is clear, I just turn off ASW and all is good. You can do this through keyboard commands on the fly so as not to break the immersion. If the sky clouds over or when I descend, ASW Force 45 fps goes back on and all things point to happiness once again.

I do the exact same thing
But it’s a shame Meta is lying when they claim the Q3 works well with RTX 40 series cards…
I regret not buying the Pimax Light, but apparently there were a lot of defective units, so I was scared.
I wrote a lot to Meta support, and they finally told me that MSFS and X-Plane aren’t on their list of programs they guarantee to work (in 100%).
In any case, I’m waiting for decent VR hardware to come to the market that can be used via DisplayPort.
The only thing that’s really puzzling me is why so many people don’t experience this problem???

Maybe this guide can help you understand some concepts about VR performance and extract a bit more clarity and zero stutter experience

Thanks.

Of course, I’m familiar with this material.
As soon as I bought my Q3 and a new computer, this video became required reading.
Unfortunately, despite following the recommendations and advice 100%, nothing helped in my case.
I can have the settings at their lowest (all sliders to the left in both MSFS and X-Plane), and I still get terrible ghosting effect.
When ASW is enabled => terribleartifacts in clear skies/water.
At both settings, the simulation is smooth and stutter-free…

I always think that two or more settings are competing with each other. I remember using OXRT at the same time as ODT and also VD settings. I. And to learn that only one was compatible with my Quest 3 - try rolling back to one item above and try that

Biggest difference that made things great for me on my Quest/7950x3D/4080 combo was to upgrade to a 6E router as dedicated access point which hits 2400mbps to the headset via Virtual Desktop.

The extra bandwidth and headroom makes all the difference in FPS and latency (45/55), load time, eliminates stutters and problems with head turning.

Are you still satisfied with this solution ???
I’m also planning to buy a 6E router.
What exact router are you using ???

Took me three weeks to get my Q3 to work got VD and the cable from Meta was worthless. I did get this 6G router… overkill but needed a new one anyhow:

I get 2400MBs. Sorry cannot look at the thread in detail.
