would like to taste some vr expierence but not sure whether my setup is good enough to make it playable.
My rig: 2070 super, 3700x, 32 GB RAM
Does it have sense? Will I be able to have a good expierence in every plane or only basic vfr planes? Is quest 2 a good option? What settings can I expect?
Yeah I know but I will probably go straight for 4000 series that is why I just want to see how does it perform on 2070S. If Quest 2 is ok, I will go for that. I see that a lot of people with 1080 ti have Quest and it looks fine. 1080ti is quite similiar in performance as 2070S so i guess I can expect sth like that.
If you have issues, using Virtual Desktop is great. My system doesn’t agree with the Oculus airlink. I’ve seen chatter it could be related to a combo of being an AMD board and Windows 11.
I use my Quest 2 and although i’ve seen posts claiming that the G2 is better, i decided to stick with my Quest 2. I even bought the kiwi design headstrap and it is great for comfort.
It is an ok headset, I have a good experience with it. Now with the OpenXR NIS scaler tool, you can adjust colours, etc.
So i guess, depending on your situation, you can go with the Quest 2 ( portability and less cables when using PC VR)
If I had to choose now, I’d probably go with the G2 given that I just upgraded to the RTX 3080.
I use a Quest 2 with a Ryzen 5 3600 and a 2060 super, 32gb ram and have great performance. lot of settings on high, clouds on Ultra. However, Virtual desktop was a game changer. Wired performance was sub optimal. Now I just have a big charger pack plugged into the USB to give me that extra battery life for flights over an hour long.
Yeah, I think some of the Quest 2 knocks come from the Oculus Link. It’s simply terrible.
I don’t even suffer from shimmer with the FSR scaling and Virtual Desktop.
I keep reading the G2 and Varjo posts. While I’m sure better they don’t sound like the miracle solutions either. Especially after $3,000 to $4,000 plus of video card and headset upgrades. Well, getting a 3080ti should make any headset better.
