If im flying something like a cessna 152 or 172 and the sim tells me to put power in idle, what exactly does that mean? I dont recall the training explaining that.
Try 0% thrust, idle or flight idle is a power setting.
Oh ok so it’s literally just turning the engine off?
Not quite. You need to keep your engine running, but you want to reduce the thrust to 0%. If you have a throttle pull it towards you otherwise try pressing F1.
Let’s say you were driving a car with a manual transmission. If you put your car into neutral your car will continue to move, but without forward momentum from your engine, you will start to slow down. This is kind of like flying with your thrust set to Idle. You don’t want to turn your engine off, because if you need to get moving quickly, having to restart the engine takes too long. Instead, all you need to do in a plane is increase your throttle again
Did my explanation above sort your problem?
