Hi there, I was wondering about the FAA? Is FAA worldwide or is it under another name, In Other countries? Sorry if this is a ridicules question.. Any help is greatly appreciated. TIA
Hello @TheTwister7156,
The FAA is a US-specific agency under the Department of Transportation that governs flight in the United States only. Other countries have their own government agencies that perform similar functions. For example, in Canada, the governing body of aviation is Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA), and in the UK, it’s the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
For international agreements, the global governing body is ICAO, the International Civil Aviation Organization.
Thanks,
MSFS Team
The FAA is the American Federal Aviation Administration. It’s jurisdiction would basically be US airspace and US registered aircraft operating anywhere in the world. And while FAA rules apply aboard US registered aircraft operating in other parts of the world, those aircraft also have to obey the rules in the countries in which they fly. Other countries’ aviation regulators have similar jurisdictions of their own, all of which overlap to some degree.
