Question regarding using joystick in conjunction with mouse

I’m looking at buying a joystick for MSFS soon, but I wondered if you also need to use the mouse, such as accessing the quick menu for the ATC, selecting frequencies to tune to etc. I’m right-handed, and I didn’t want to buy a right-handed joystick, but then have to switch back and forth between that and the mouse during a flight.

Or can everything be accessed easily via the joystick?

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks

If you can find a left handed joystick…
I have used a joystick/keyboard/mouse control setup for 40 years.
Unless you have the budget and space to get a yoke and numerous quadrants/switch panels you will always find yourself reaching for a mouse for some of the panel knobs/switches. You can map most things to a keyboard command but the number of key combinations will often mean two hands.

Your ‘home cockpit’ setup will dictate the number of peripherals you have space for. Even with $1000s of dollars in add ons, you will eventually need to reach for the mouse.
