How realistic are these rainbows that I encountered during a recent flight?` They seemed a little bit to mathematical :-).

pretty realistic I’d say;

the reason it might look ‘mathematical’, is because it’s physics
it’s also a bit distorted in your case because of the very wide FOV (Field of view), zoom in a bit more, and you won’t get that weird quake effect.

I just searched the web for “circular rainbows”. There are a bunch of pics - some looked very similar. Lot’s of explanations for them too. So, I’d agree with MortThe2nd. Pretty accurate.
Was this with live weather or with presets?

Since the 2020 sim was released I’ve seen a lot of updates.
Not all of them had positive results but MS/Asobo is seriously doing a great job.
Rainbows, sparks in the clouds… turbulence.
It’s not accurate at all times but we’re getting there.
My glass is half full, not half empty
