Yep, that is why I introduced in my answer to DORRAGER the word RAMDisk.
I do remember MFM controllers (with 2 flat cables, 1 for data transfer and the other for steering the HD motor)with 20Gb HDD and the good old Dos (IBM PC DOS 3.3)
Those were times
I’m seriously struggling to not upgrade anything else or build another PC until I see where Intel and AMD land with their shift to new sockets and all the goodness that their next platforms and CPU’s are promised to bring.
It’s a daily struggle because I do love building PC’s and upgrading my existing ones and every time I get a major performance crash in MSFS my thoughts wander to new motherboard, CPU, exotic cooling…
But as stated. Now is not the time.
I turned off MSFS2020 last night after a few performance struggles around KSEA and played IL-2 instead just to remind myself that with normal games my current PC is in fact a blisteringly fast beast of a machine.
Ya, I feel with you.
I abandonned that road of blaming the hardware each time there is a performance hit. (Building PC’s as from the Intel 286AT era (6Mhz clock)
For me it is clear that it is a technology/software evolution thing
Could not agree more that IL-2 ,DCS,FSX,X-Plane, LM P3D all benefit from current hardware
but hey the graphics in FS2020 are awesome as ‘never seen before’
I never tried ramdisk as heard it’s possible to corrupt data if your pc experiences a sudden power loss from a power cut or something.
The 2500 series Ram is awesome (sorry I had to get that joke out) I am using a 32gb Ram and have had smooth frames
Makes sense.
Data corruptions occur when the OS wants to write data to your SSD and because you loose power at that moment the writing process is not completed.
As I understand it writing processes to SSD’s are differently designed in recent OS’s. Almost bulletproof to data corruption due to powerloss.
I am not talking about electrical damage to your components
Please do not get me wrong , I am NOT advising to pull the powercord when your OS is up and running, though it is more robuust nowadays
thanks guys vor the valuable infos…i will add tomorrow my 16 gb ram that i ordered…i m not that computer savvy about hardware and stuff, i m reading a few stuff on internet how to get more usage of the ram and the possible upgrades on my comp…i hope that that will improve the performance…of course, i love nice graphics, but for now i m more focused on performance…but when i see people, even with “war machines”, they have struggles and kinda “low” fps regarding the hardware on their comp…i m having that big 34" screen and that’s awesome…i hope that the update on the 27 th will help a bit…i think the next step willl be a new graphic card…like gtx1660 or even a gtx260, but still like 500 bucks…anyway, we dont count for msfs …lol…thanks again mates
after a userbenchmarks check on my pc, i found out thet my comp is kinda low, i knew that of course, and i found that video on how to improve your ram by enabling XMP/DOCP…worth a try ?
