Over the north rim of the Grand Canyon, looking at the vistor center and Bright Angel Point on a flight from KLAS to KGCN. I’m using Bijan’s Season’s Enhanced 2024 mod which, as can be seen here, is well worth it for the tree improvements alone. Regardless, the scenery and weather in MSFS 2024 continue to blow me away. And yes, I know I’m busting FARs by not flying at least 2,000’ AGL above a national park. Sometimes the sim is even better than real life!
On the way out of KGCN on the way to KPGA. Filed IFR to punch through the local crud, but got this view just before I went IMC. Delayed the after take off checks to gawk, which is why the landing lights haven’t been retracted yet. Flying the Milviz/Blackbird Cessna 310R. It is compatible with MSFS 2024 and besides a strange fuel flow bug that I haven’t been able to reproduce, but which put me in the Great Salt Lake, it has been behaving nearly flawlessly. Other than the fact that it isn’t a Beechcraft

From Page, I flew to Sedona (KESZ), but was disappointed that the Chapel of the Holy Cross was not modeled. I’ve flown by it in real life when my Dad flew me up for the $50 hamburger in his Bonanza. Anyway, the primary reason for the Sedona stop was to check out x-Codr Designs version of KSEZ and grab a virtual $50 hamburger at the restaurant. No pictures of any of that (click the link if you want to see it); instead here is the 310 at vbazillo’s incredibly scenic freeware Monument Valley Airport. There is no fuel here, so I had to plan carefully to make sure I will be light enough on departure for the accelerate-stop given the relatively short 4,000’ runway for the hot, high altitude. After my stop, I’m heading to Cortez, CO (KCEZ) to refuel. Tomorrow, I’ll overfly Mesa Verde National Park on the way to Durango. I’m very curious if any of the Pueblo cliff dwellings will be visible. I’ll post some pictures if they are.
Flying from Boston to La Guardia, this flight ended in tragedy as I became disoriented in cloud and didn’t pay enough attention to my instruments. The ground sure is hard.
40 years since the release of the movie ‘Goonies’, I thought I would take a look at the filming locations in MSFS. Starting out at Astoria, Oregon, making a pass over the Goonies house (AI-generated building doesn’t do a good job of matching the real house, but it’s there), and then turned south following the Oregon coast to Cannon Beach and Haystack Rock. A very beautiful part of the country, even in MSFS.
