Ray Tracing Difficulty

Using ray tracing in graphical intensive environments such as Flight Simulator 2020 will be extremely difficult to maintain performance and ultra settings. The NVIDIA Marbles RTX demo Marbles RTX Playable Sample Now Available in NVIDIA Omniverse | NVIDIA Blog which you can play yourself is extremely hard to maintain 30 fps on higher end 30 series hardware. The night time version of Marbles RTX NVIDIA Marbles at Night | RTX Demo - YouTube requires a 3090 that demo is only running 1440p. Marbles RTX and Flight Simulator 2020 are similar graphical intensive environments. I don’t believe ray tracing will come to Flight Simulator 2020 anytime soon.

What do you think?

For the most part we’re talking about one source of light so it might not be so bad. However I think it will give very variable results depending on where a PC’s bottlenecks lie. For some it might ease load on a stressed cpu and for others it may increase load on an already stressed gpu. - no doubt one day we will get to see for ourselves.
