[READ FIRST] Welcome to the Sim Update 11 Beta!

Sim Update 11 / 40th Anniversary is one of the largest updates in the history of Microsoft Flight Simulator, and because of this, we are making a few changes to our standard Beta process for this release.

Sim Update 11 Beta testing will begin on October 12 and last until the release of both Sim Update 11 and 40th Anniversary on November 11, 2022. Please note that 40th Anniversary content will not be present in the Sim Update 11 Beta.

Here’s a brief overview of what the Beta window will look like:

NOTE: Dates are approximate and subject to change.

October 12 - Beta testing begins

The beta build will be available to download at this time. If you are not already in the testing group, click here to learn how to add yourself to the group.

October 12-24 – Collect feedback and investigate

For the first 1-2 weeks of Sim Update 11 Beta testing, we’ll investigate and fix issues, while releasing updates as needed. After 1-2 weeks, updates to the Sim Update 11 Beta will stop and all resources will shift to finalizing and integrating the 40th Anniversary content in preparation for release.

October 24 – Pause updates and continue collecting feedback

While updates to the Sim Update 11 Beta will stop after 1-2 weeks, we’ll continue collecting feedback up until release on November 11. Feedback not addressed before (or received after) the first 1-2 weeks of Beta testing will be investigated and addressed in future updates.

Here’s some more ways you can help with Sim Update 11 Beta testing.

Accessibility:

Sim Update 11 includes a new accessibility feature—controller d-pad / keyboard arrow navigation. A survey will be available in the Xbox Insider Hub for Xbox Accessibility Insider League participants. If you’d like to provide feedback on accessibility in Sim Update 11, please join both the Microsoft Flight Simulator Beta – Sim Update 11 flight and the Xbox Accessibility Insider League (instructions below) and look for a link to the survey under Announcements in the Xbox Insider Hub app.

NOTE: Please ensure you are joined to both the Microsoft Flight Simulator Beta – Sim Update 11 flight and the Xbox Accessibility Insider League on the same device to view the survey.

  1. On your Xbox Series X|S console or Windows PC, sign-in and launch the Xbox Insider Hub app (or install the Xbox Insider Hub from the Store first if needed).
  2. Navigate to Previews > Xbox Accessibility Insider League.
  3. Select Join.
  4. Wait for the registration to complete, then select Announcements in the Xbox Insider Hub app.
  5. Look for the announcement titled SU11 Accessibility Survey.

Please visit the Community Dashboard to found out what’s already logged in our database.

Generally speaking, don’t hesitate to report any significant regression from the current live version using the Beta categories [link] (Instruments, ATC, Weather, etc…)

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU JOIN

MS Store PC Users: There is always a risk that you may have to re-install the sim when joining/leaving a flight, so please keep this in mind before participating.

If you have MSFS content installed completely on a custom path, you will have a much lower chance that a full re-install will be necessary when the update is officially released. However, if your sim content is installed in the default path selected by the in-game content manager, you may have to reinstall the whole sim when moving from the test build to the public build. We recommend that those who wish to test with us ensure your sim content is located in a custom path before joining the flight to avoid full reinstallations in the future (Details on how to do this can be found here. The best set up would be for your store app to live on the default C: drive and sim content on a custom drive.

Please remember if you decide to join the Beta and install the build, you will likely have to re-install your sim if you wish to leave the Beta before it ends. If you did not opt out of the last Beta, you will automatically stay in this Beta and receive the next build.

In addition, while in Multiplayer Mode, you will only see users who are in the same build as you.
