Real Environment Xtreme Announcement | REX Weather Force Weather Engine

Because we weren’t aware of it prior to purchase but its ok, it is what it is

If you don’t like having winds aloft with your free program, more power to ya!

I haven’t purchased REX, and I use Unreal when default “live” weather is bogus, but Unreal’s lack of real world winds aloft would be a killer for anyone flying high.

I flew from EGUO to EGTB earlier, IFR at 5000’ with a 38kt tail wind. Nothing wrong with live weather or wind here. I was in cloud most of the way, dropping out as I descended through 2000’ at EGTB.

A new video posted: REX Weather Force - North of Hurricane Zeta's Eyewall - YouTube

I don’t think you understood his comment even the slightest bit. He was talking about REX and Unreal, nothing to do with “live” weather.

Nothing to do with MSFS live weather hobanagerik… I find MSFS live weather - winds aloft to be somewhat accurate thankfully.

REX doesn’t work - well the 1.1 test. i overwrote my working older version, now this one doesn’t inject weather anymore for my machine. if it does, you cant change it after the first time loaded to any presets.

A new update compatible with yesterday’s MSFS update that includes the tech update 1.1 will be released today.

It’s out: News | REX Simulations

After using REX Weather Force for a couple weeks, I’m a little underwhelmed. The transitions are too stark compared to MSFS Live Weather (which pulls in global infrared satellite imagery). I’m expecting MSFS Live Weather to surpass what REX was able to do - which was much needed - to get the METAR spot on, but the immersion is completely lost. I’ll table REX until they get to a 2.0 patch.

You know you have more control over that don’t you?

Control over what? You mean I can force the program to NOT go from IMC to VMC in less than 5 seconds? or go from OAT from 5C to negative 6 C in seconds ?

I was flying today in REX and got ice instantly with the above scenario.

Try the new persistent weather load option for starters.

Also icing isn’t instant, that effect happens over time.

Instead of this, I might as well install the charged preset, which is more interesting.

In Pecs, Hungary this afternoon: Review the limitations of REX Weather Force, and why MSFS Live Weather is the better option for users as it stands:

Here is REX Weather Synthesis for Pecs, which is we must remember, is using METAR data which only observes the celestial dome above the aerodrome, nothing else. It applies then this weather observation to a vast area. Simply, the METAR is using CAVOK.

Now I will bring up the satellite imagery:

Cloudy. I can spot some cumulus also.

Also, with infrared shows moisture:

MSFS Live Weather activated:

I was pleased as, not depicted here but there was some thunder/ lighting in the distance.

Case closed.

Yesterday I was flying to Budapest and the weather was rainy. During the approach I experienced the rain, but when I landed, the rain has stopped even though in the weather engine it showed that the weather was still rainy.

Has anyone else experienced the same issue or is this due to my preferences ?

I think the Rex engine is putting in the correct info based on real weather and the Asobo sim is spitting out bad or incorrect weather.

Yes I complained about this to REX a few days ago, the metar data used is not the latest. But I did not receive any explanation. The app should be able to pull in the newest data easily.

The metar data is accurate and up to date here.

As stated on Discord, there are times when backups are running that may introduce issues, but only within a 30min-40min timeframe.
