Real Environment Xtreme Announcement | REX Weather Force Weather Engine

Don’t think so but don’t know.

That would be pretty bad if it was the case.

I think Mariangello means that MS will sell the advanced features as DLC themselves.

I don’t expect anything, really. I think it’s still too soon to expect an update with anything really new. I think it will be small fixes only.

What if the weather is fixed in two days at the latest. Will all the bashers then stand in the corner an be ashamed of such insinuations? If I remember correctly, the 2nd update will be delivered tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

I’ll definitely wait to see what HiFi can do with ActiveSky as I’m a big user of historical/achieved wx.

Also, their products have historically provided more integrated with other addons, such as advanced aircraft FMCs for wind uplinks, and flight planning software like PFPX.

People sometimes forget it’s not just having great weather data available in sim, but also being able to utilize that same data in other applications.

I think ‘Micabo’ has the right amount of syllables, and sounds more balanced

REX is clearly trying to capitalize on the frustration with live weather, trying to push his overpriced Weather engine + texture pack, which has a good chance of not being any better than the default textures and live weather.

Ha, I bet someone starts a thread on this and asks us to vote :relaxed:

As I said. Ferengi Rules

Uuh, I’d be careful with such statements. Rex never touched HiFi in anything weather related. They had great textures, but as far as weather is concerned my money is on hifi.

What a load of poppycock🤣

I’d wait to see how well the patched weather, coming either today or in few days, until I decide to purchase. We may not need 3rd party weather afterall.

I think I’d said on another forum as well — If ActiveSky goes into MSFS - I’ll probably buy it regardless, purely for as I’ve outlined above and as @Norman999933 pointed out — A lot of other third party software could heavily take advantage of ActiveSky’s systems (PFPX, Wind Uplink in PMDG FMCS etc) and because I’ve already spent a fair bit of money with them that I’ve felt has been great value and I respect them as a developer.

I agree with your statement… personally I’m believing that REX just copied METAR data into the current weather configurator…

None of the pictures they took have shown (at distance) other weather conditions beyond what’s near the plane.

Don’t be fooled people there’s no real product here this is all marketing.

Reading this announcement two things come to mind. 1st - REX obtained preference at Asobo compared to HiFi. 2nd - this is scam. I am leaning towards the second.

No, thank you. Sounds like another cash grab, considering the dev in question and the circumstances. Asobo promised to deliver accurate weather, so let them do their job. Patience is a virtue.

Nobody can explain to me why I should equip an Aston Martin with a senseless Spoiler.

Sorry, but I don’t need this. I already have the best and superior weather engine built into the simulator. But who knows, maybe there will be buyers.

Patch on or before this Sunday. Hopefully sooner rather than later I am eager to see what all is fixed. Shouldn’t need 3rd party add-on for features that were promised by micrasobo.

Does REX add clouds as well or just Real Weather?

I get smooth transitions today with live weather in both circumstances, ie when I first fly from startup where (other than wind) live weather works, and in subsequent flights where live weather always starts with clear skies - in the latter case the weather changes as I fly longer distances
