Recommend external map (not mobile)

As far as I know, it is not possible to display the world map while flying, so I’m looking for a simple external mapping app to run on the same Windows PC, not mobile phone.

It’s for casual and recreational use, I simply want to know where I am in the world when flying aircraft without a GPS / Map. Bonus if I can get distance and bearing using some kind of ruler tool.

The VFR map doesn’t really have the location details I’m after.

no muss, no fuss. very nice. if you run windowed FS you can switch between the two and it shows your plane on the map. Also has TONS of other things every aviator needs

This one… 100% recommend… I use it every time I “fly.”

VFRMap, LittleNavMap, SimToolKit Pro.

Thank you all for those suggestions. I just tried LittleNavMap and VFRMap. They both worked, though VFRMap is closest to my needs at this time. If I ever do more than play around, I’ll try out the flight planning tools.

I think my (free) flight planner will do exactly what you want.

There’s a tweak to put LNM on the flight screen too: https://github.com/bymaximus/msfs2020-toolbar-little-nav-map

As others have mentioned then littlenavmap is the way to go.

And if you want google map as map then install this map-pack on top of littlenavmap.

Enjoy.

Hi everyone.
Soon I will make a video of an old program that works perfectly with google earth. You will see your own plane, its tracking, air traffic. I repeat it is old but fully functional and easy to configure.
I love to see where I’m going, I’ve been flying with it since FS2020 came out. It works with the FSUIPC.
The radar range to see air traffic is 40NM, but those of you who have the new version of FSUIPC 7, you can change the figure from 40 NM to 0 NM and you will see many more.
Have a good flight. :+1:t2:
Tell me if you are interested in it and I’ll give you the link.
