Is every single instrument we see in your photo displayed by AM? If so, what are the sizes and resolutions of the touchscreens?
(I use AM but on two 16" touchscreens. I’d never have guessed that what you’re doing is possible or even that touchscreen monitors that large exist – i.e., if I’m looking at two large screens.)
Yes they are all AM instruments aside from the G1000Nxi displays. The monitors are both 24” 1920 x 1080 touch displays. Together side by side like you see, the available real estate is about the same as a typical GA aircraft so the instruments can be close to real sizes and positions. I Love this setup.
You mean like Tinder or something?
Spectacular. I didn’t know that touchscreens that large were available. I think I should be replacing my two 15.6" screens with one 24", but I’d need a new bracket, which doesn’t exist commercially, to attach one to my Honeycomb units. I’ll start researching add-on monitor stands.
Thanks.
I 100% do this, along with ATC Chatter and BushTalk Radio for the POI’s. I have Jumpseat just low enough that I can hear the POI and/or ATC.
ATC Chatter adds different ATC from around the regions you are flying and it’s updated pretty well. All this adds to the immersion factor for me.
Enjoy the skies.
MSFS MAP NG,It is really smooth and has terrain display. Download it from Google Play
Picked up SkyElite a couple of days ago and am quite happy with it. It does what I need regarding an external map and easier access to radio tuning and auto-pilot buttons while flying. I like panning around the cockpit and clicking switches in the VC on the ground but not so much while trying to keep one eye on the horizon and the other zoomed in on those tiny click points
I tried the break out version of the VFR map on the separate monitor which worked fine, and didn’t cause too big of a frame rate hit, but the clincher was the loss of control input while focused on the map window.
There’s a decent free product available too, MSFS Mobile Companion App, but I like the SkyElite interface better and it seems reasonably priced.
If I switch to using a tablet I may look at other apps but on the second monitor this is great.
I also use sky elite, you can open two windows in two different browsers to get PFD and MFD. There is a lot of functionality covered in the PFD displays.
I find it much easier to quickly punch a button on a separate window rather than zooming in on cockpit view.
For me definitely Sky4Sim
Late to this topic, but maybe this post will help someone who runs into the same technical issue I had with SkyElite. Aerosoft tech support was no help. In fact, it seemed they hardly cared. That’s the only gripe I have with SkyElite. Otherwise, I’m glad I bought it, and think it’s well worth the $25.
There’s a button on the app screen called ‘Elevation’ which can display a horizontal elevation map. It does not work by default. You have to download elevation data (.zip file) and put the unzipped folder containing the data tiles in the SkyElite installation folder. If no data is loaded pressing the button will give you instructions on where to download the data. The .zip file contains only basic installation instructions.
I got a ‘Permission Denied’ error when I tried to copy the downloaded data folder to the destination folder. I thought it was something with the destination folder, but I’m an administartor, and have Full Control over that folder. Turns out I had to remove the ‘Read Only’ attribute from the downloaded data folder and files. Once I did that I was able to copy/paste it, and the Elevation button was active in the app.
Hey, I know you have concern about kids as ATC, but they are trained, all VATSIM Divisions require training to be ATC and let me tell you. If a kid has done the training, they are no worse than the adults.
Shameless plug (as developer, disclosure):
Also, Location Manager for MSFS - Sonicviz (has a small learning curve, see the Tips for how to go about that).
I recently purchased Aircraft Manager, but have experienced some issues with it. Can you direct me where to go for support & suggestions?
Thanks, and sorry to hear that.
Please see the ReadMe-EULA.txt that was included in the zip file you received, along with the other help files.
First line-> Please see Aircraft Manager for MSFS - Sonicviz for full details, download links, installation instructions, and support info.
Links in the table of contents on the page. In particular please make sure to read the “Known Issues”, tips, and FAQ sections to make sure none apply or to try and resolve known issues.
Support link is at the bottom of the page, with requested info when reporting issues.
Ditto for Location Manager.
I already read through Known Issues, but didn’t see these listed. I’ll take a look through the documents tomorrow.
Sorry, don’t do support here, it’s MS Forum TOS that it’s general product discussion only (though that can be tested sometimes for sure!;-).
That wouldn’t surprise me, there’s always at least one more hidden worm lurking in the software woodwork waiting to pop out and say hi at the worst possible time, despite best efforts to seal them in.
Please use the support form at the above link if nothing applies, with as much detail as possible in order to replicate issue(s) and I’ll get back to you asap to try to resolve it (or become a known issue, it happens).
ps: There’s also a button on the top bar of AM/LM “Help & Support” which goes direct to the appropriate website.
Will do. Thanks. Really love the add-on for automatically switching my Honeycombs per plane.
