Recording with Shadowplay

Anyone record their flights with Shadowplay? I currently use OBS but am getting fed up with stuttering on the recording when the sim is smooth. This even happens at small remote airports.

Just wondering if Shadowplay is a viable alternative and can it be set up to output similar file sizes to OBS?

I don’t know what you mean about « similar file size » but there are some settings to set the level of quality compression in Shadow Play.

You can set the target bitrate with a slider in settings, as I recall; just pop open the settings in the overlay. I can’t test it or take screenshots now as I’ve since moved to a Radeon card.

Personally I’ve had no problems with OBS.

I’ve had a better result with Bandicam recently. Still not perfect but much smoother than OBS and even at native resolution it’s better than OBS scaled down.

The UI is a lot more friendly to use too. Less complicated (bit less versatile if you do need added features for setting up Picture in Picture etc for streams then it’s no good).

After your first long recording, the free version limits you to 10 minutes per recording (and has their watermark). It’s quite expensive to buy the Lifetime” license instead of the yearly one so I have not decided yet. Still trying to get OBS to do the job. It used to work a lot better so I don’t know when or why it got worse. Done a full reinstall and cleared all previous settings but still choppy.

I’ve not tried Shadowplay as I really am trying to avoid installing GF Experience.

You can also record using Xbox Game Bar (win+g). I have been using Shadowplay with good results. I don’t know how file sizes might compare with OBS.
