Recreate Tour of Japan Flight Plan using different A/C?

I’d love to take the Japan Tour but use a different aircraft, esp. seeing all the posts about the King Air’s inconsistent AP. Anyone know or have suggestions?

You can pull this as the .PLN file from G:\Microsoft\MSFS2020\Official\Steam\asobo-liveevent\Missions\Asobo\LiveEvent (or wherever you have the official content installed) to get the current live mission that’s displayed, and just drag n’drop it onto Little NavMap (https://albar965.github.io/ - use the beta version for msfs scenery support) then save it as .lnmpln format.

Then fly it with whatever you want.

Thank you! That’s a neat trick! This is exactly what I was looking for, as I wanted to tour Japan but “on my own terms”.

Thanks! The hint to the file location helped. Believe it or not, it’s as simple as taking that PLN file and copying it to your Roaming folder where you end up normally saving PLN and in-flight FLT files. I just renamed it TOUR_JAPAN.PLN, launched MSFS, went to Free Flight and hit load. There it was. Loaded cleanly and I can pick my own times and planes.

I don’t use the inflight maps, they’re pretty bad. You’ll find little NavMap is far more useful.

Just a couple of quick notes:

  1. Do not let Charlie the AI Autopilot fly the aircraft on this route. S/he departed the path immediately after the first waypoint was headed to asylum somewhere in North Korea had we kept on course. Manually fly towards the first waypoint and get the AP going on GPS and set it for an altitude you like (more on that below).

  2. Checking the default plan, the cruise altitude was set for 2500’ presumably to clear all obstacles. You can probably drop it down to 1500’ safely and still clear most of the hills/mountains.

  3. Is this still an AP bug? Using the SR-22 instead of the King Air, but I’m still seeing tiny left-right aileron rolling even though we’re solidly on nav path.

Hey Guys,

i would like to share my experience with the latest update especially with the World Update 1: Japan.

as everybody knows you have to do the flight with the Beach King Air 350i, unfortunately i had a CTD at least 5 times during the flight so i had to start the flight all over again.

I decided to use a different type of plane, because it is not possible to do so unless you have the Developer Mode enabled, so if you have it enabled, i can only recommend not to do the flight with the Beach King Air 350i.

I assume, because i read here in the forum that many people have problems during the flight, for example the camera behaves unusually without doing anything and then seconds later some people get a CTD, so i would recommend to think about switching on the Developer Mode if not already done, and then choose another plane at the airport.

At least for me this worked without any problems the first time, so I was able to fly from Nagasaki to the destination airport in Tokyo without any problems!

No, copy the PLN as I mentioned above into your Roaming directory with all your other personal FLPs, and you can pick any plane. You do not need to be in Dev mode.

I do not know if you mean me, but i am not concerned with the flight plan how or where I have to insert it, as you can see from my post above, i’m concerned especially with the problems with CTDs and the World Update1: Japan.

Brilliant ! Worked a treat ! and you both taught us where the files go.
Slightly different file structure for my MS Store version ,but once the priciples are understood its easy.
MS did us no favours by choosing the King Air which is not sorted and caused a lot of trouble for many
Thanks a lot and well done both

If I save my flight during the Japan tour and reload later, it puts me in the air where I was but with no flight plan in the screens. What did I do wrong? I reloaded “japanmidflight.pln.”

Thanks.

This may be related to the general glitch where re-loading an in-flight game doesn’t preserve last settings or conditions in either the AP or FMS. Not sure what can be done for this.

Thanks a lot. Hope it gets handled someday.
