Is anyone else finding that the draw distance has been drastically reduced in the latest beta.
It reminds me of when I used to play on Xbox.
No, seems as before if not better. I’ve not noticed any issues at 200tlod
Yes they obviously changed the draw distance, I guess to boost performance.
It looks very unnatural/inconsistent. For now I force myself to only focus on a 3 NM radius around my aircraft to limit the level of breaking immersion.
I am on PC.
Yes, the draw distance has been significantly reduced (on PC). I already mentioned this in the Sim Update 2 feedback thread. It’s been reduced so much that I left the beta. It’s just incredibly frustrating. If this is how Sim Update 2 is going to be, then I’ll have to switch back to 2020
These downgrades are making 2024 lose its whole charm. One step forward and two steps back.
It looks like they’re trying to downgrade it as much as possible until the users notice, and some people apparently don’t even realize the downgrade.
For the folks reporting draw distances down, wondering what your settings are, and if the sim may be reducing it to compensate for some settings or scenery DLCs?
With these settings I have not seen a reduction in draw distance during SU2 beta: TAA; Dynamic 30-60 FPS; 150/150, everything on High with Raytraced shadows ON (PC config in my profile).
Everything on ultra. The non beta version looks better apart from the blurry ground textures.
Does draw distance increase with everything on High? Asking because I recall hearing some time ago in Dev livestreams something like an Ultra in 2020 is now like a High in 2024; meaning that while 2024 is capable of more LOD, we might need to reduce settings from what we have/had in 2020 to see equivalence.
No, I have every single setting of this game at max and it is really bad.
So what happens, here in beta testing, if you reduce your settings from “Max” to the next level down? Any improvement in draw distance?
Why should I reduce settings to make it better? Makes no sense.
To test if SU2 is reducing draw distance to compensate for some other condition mediated by one’s LOD settings. Of course you are not expected to do this, but I am not seeing reduced draw distances with less than “Max” settings, so just wondering if anyone else can confirm that.
There is a separate LOD setting that has nothing to do with the graphics setitngs. You can have all down to low and LOD to max…
So what happens if folks reduce those LOD settings, does that restore draw distance?
No, reducing LOD decreases draw distance
If .13 is using system resources differently resulting in a decreased draw distance, what setting(s) can one change to relieve system resources and restore some draw distance?
I feel like I’m seeing some odd/different stuff in .13 as noted in my post here on the .13 performance survey (the edit calling out some of what seems described here):
Hi, as to the post above, I’m not seeing any of that in .13
As to the OP, I’m not seeing that either, and I used to fly a Series X so I get that entirely.
Make sure your Dynamic setting is OFF as well. I think they made that way more aggressive to keep the FPSs up. At least I had the impression that the LODs were nerfed but when I turned Dynamic Settings to OFF, it looks fine overall. Using LOD 100 here since apparently 12GB VRAM is peasant memory these days.
