Reinstalled, TCA Setup still not working

Hi all,

I have read through these forums and watched various videos on the TCA Thrustmaster setup. I’ve had this thing for a year (the whole kit) and yet I have yet to make it work. Every time I start FS2020 my experience is ruined by attempts to configure the hardware. Don’t even start me on the HP Reverb G2

I reinstalled FS last night in full. Per the article on the Microsoft site on how to do this. Unfortunately, the cloud sync seems to have pulled all the settings for the controllers back down, and I am in the same board (plane) as before.

I have these issues:

  1. Left engine is always OFF in the Stock Airbus (and other planes in fact)
  2. The joystick, even after running the TCA calibration seems to be doing crazy things. Half the issue is not knowing what the expected behaviour should be. I will try to attach some videos here showing the issue.
  3. Some articles are out of date on the TCA site, and here there are many posts about the setup, but not one 1 - 99 steps that show how to configure this.

Long gone are my MVP days and my ability to be a true simmer anymore. I just really want to fire this thing up and fly around for a bit. So can some of you younger folk help out an old-timer?

Link to videos here

Cheers

Nick

Moin,
Have you ever thought that the thing might be broken?
If you have really tried all the descriptions that would be the most obvious.
Because - ingen when it worked for everyone up to now.

Dieter

Actually, it didnt cross my mind, because its brand new (end 2020) and out of the box I must have used it 5 times. I’ve opened a ticket with Thrustmaster also today while its still in year 1.

I wish you luck.
There have already been several where it was broken “out of the box”.

This looks like a Calibration issue. Try to do factory recalibration using the steps outlined here.

Or watch this video.

Now, since you have the TCA Addon attached and installed, you need to do this calibration steps slightly differently. On the document, you can start the calibration from step I - III the same. But by the time you get to Step IV - VII you have to do it like this:

  1. Throttle at TOGA detent, Spoiler Up, Flaps Up → Press the two red buttons.
  2. Throttle at FLX/MCT detent, Spoiler 1, Flaps 1 → Press the two red buttons.
  3. Throttle at CLB detent, Spoiler 2, Flaps 2 → Press the two red buttons.
  4. Throttle at IDLE detent, Spoiler 3, Flaps 3 → Press the two red buttons.
  5. Throttle at FULL REVERSE detent, Spoiler Full, Flaps Full → Press the two red buttons.

Once you done these steps, you can continue with steps VIII - onwards from the document.

When you get to the MSFS Control settings, Make sure you delete all existing profile to bring everything to the absolute default profile. That should fix your engine binding issue as well.

It helped with mine, I hope this helped you. I’ve written these steps last year in another post. Maybe it’s buried somewhere in the forum.

Yes. I saw your posts on the other threads. I have done the calibration many times now. I think that the previous poster is right. It’s faulty.

Do any of you see that throttle behaviour in the windows properties like I do?

It was doing exactly that, when I followed the calibration method to their exact steps. But then I realised they forgot to include that pressing red button on the FULL REVERSE detent in the steps. As soon as I do the full reverse position and press the red buttons, the throttle behaviour is smooth as expected. No longer doing the thing that you were doing.

But I guess if you have already done the exact same steps as I mentioned, then it’s possibly a hardware fault. You might need to contact Thrustmaster support with it, supported by your video evidence.

Yes. I did the reverse thruster position too. I was going to do a YouTube myself showing that but then it didn’t work for me. Thrustmastet have already responded. So I hope I get a resolution. Will update when I do.

I hope honestly that this has been the cause of my woes

On this.

I did a full reinstall. But my settings came back with the cloud sync. What is the exact process to reset these to defaults and have FS do it’s auto detection.

In your control settings, there’s a Preset Manager that you can open from the bottom menu bar. Open the Preset manager, and click Delete Profile.

You can also switch profiles by pressing the arrow icon next to the Profile names.

Ah. Yes. I did this. No change.

I’m going with faulty since day one. Which is rather depressing!

I cannot believe I put up with this for a year.

I got the replacement today, and all is well! Thank you Thrustmaster!

At least you got a replacement… me on the other hand… *sigh
